I need Jay to record a Pt. 2 to this :damn:

shyt's gonna be him on a yacht talking bout basquiat and he got 100 mil in stocks.

After listening to MCHG, I was done with Jay. He'll always be my top 5 artist, but dude is officially wack ot me.

EDIT: I take that back. I couldn't even fukk with Watch the Throne. Just realized I'm not a Jay-Z fan in the slightest any more :sadcam:

Why do you think I went full troll mode today(and will going forward).....it's much more entertaining than trying to reason with these people.

Mind you many of the people in this thread refer to Justin Timberlake as TimberGOAT...

To answer this thread, Jay-Z never fell off to me. He switched up his style and then he became entirely unmotivated. Falling off is someone like 50 Cent who is failing at what he is trying to do. Jay is doing exactly what he wants to do. He knows his stature in hip hop is solidified and he doesn't put effort into most of his verses....not like he used to. MCHG basically featured him dialing back lyrics to be more direct...yet he'll give you flashes of the older Jay. That's his problem now...filler...filler...filler....flash of greatness....filler. He can still be entertaining, and is mostly, but he's never going to rap like the Black Album or American Gangster again. Quite frankly, he doesn't want to. He'll give you a Maybach Music, Light Up, Prelude, etc., when he chooses to but for the most part now he relies on his flow and delivery.

For me, seeing how he, Nas and Pac are my three favorite rappers, I still just enjoy hearing them spit. Nothing they do at this point will change their legacy.
It's like watching an old Joe Louis box in the 50s :flabbynsick:

He would occasionally KO one of those youngins too though :obama:

Negativity (Kayfabe)
id say 96-03 was prime hov

that kingdom come was the begging of his downfall, although american gangster was sort of a resurgence he couldnt keep it up, he really is a far cry from where he was and its kind of sad really.

Every new nas song reminds me that there should be no excuses.
This

He snapped on several"Watch The Throne" tracks, then he completed the falloff on "Magna.."

He sounds horrible on that. Never though Id see that...

He never fell off to me to be totally honest. None of his "wack": albums aren't usually wack because of lack of ability, more so direction which really isn't my place to judge in regards to how he wan'ts to display his art.

Dude could very easily make the album that YOU want him to make, it may not be up to par with RD, but I bet if you could sit down with jay one on one and tell him what it is about his music that you like, he could go and bang out an album that you'd at least enjoy, it ain't about you though.

These youngins aren't as good as they are their fans think they are though so it's not hard to get that KO...overhyped because of the lack of lyricism that came to dominate the game after Jay-Z retired the first time. If Jay-Z rapped like J. Cole did on Born Sinner everyone would be saying he's still not back, and I'm a fan. That's another thing people don't realize, Jay-Z always says "steel sharpens steel." Whenever he gets on a song with these new rappers it never comes across like he's :deadrose:. The exception was Kendrick and that took a second Kendrick verse of him trying hard to dumb out. It says a lot about 2013 rap that this guy is keeping pace half-assing it

Jay Z's always had his ups and downs. From '96-'98, he had a nice run of a classic followed by two good to great ones. Then he went into kind of slump during the '99-'01 period (Vol. 3 and The Dynasty), but bounced back with another classic in Blueprint. Then went into that slump again with Blueprint 2 and Best of Both Worlds. He bounced back with an arguable classic/classic with The Black Album. He came out of retirement with a lukewarm Kingdom Come and bounced back with American Gangster (my favorite album of his). His fall off point to me started with "Jockin' Jay Z". After that, he was hit or miss "Brooklyn (We Go Hard)" was the last Jay Z song to be filled with the crazy wordplay and witty lines that made him great. I can't really think of a Jay song that's as great lyrically as that one. Blueprint 3 was lazy on all fronts, but still had dope songs. Magna Carta was a step up, but still had it's lazy moments. Watch The Throne was good and songs like "Murder to Excellence" still showed promise.

I'm still :russ: at people using his verses from songs like "Suit & Tie" and "Murder" as examples of him falling off. Jay has never really "bodied" an R&B collaboration. He more so floats by on those. There are a few standouts, but look at those R. Kelly collabo albums and his other numerous R&B and Pop collabos and he has some sub-par verses on those as well. Right now, Mya's "Best of Me" and R. Kelly's "Fiesta" are the only R&B collabos I can think of with memorable/standout Jay verses.
