At what point did the NBA start drafting these players based on “potential” but didn’t even start or put up numbers?

No they didn’t. They won the title when Darko was a rookie. It was actually the Rasheed Wallace trade that put them over the hump, but they could’ve easily added Melo to that core and brought Tayshawn off the bench. There’s a chance Melo wouldn’t have started though because Larry Brown was the coach. Carlisle had just gotten fired.
Wrong year, but everything else I said was accurate. They didn't draft Melo because of Prince.

They made lost in the Conference Finals and had the 2nd Pick. Then they drafted Darko and still won it all despite passing on Melo.

They won it all, but the wrong decision ultimately. It would’ve been like the Bulls passing on Rose because we had Hinrich already. So glad we didn’t take Beasley. A lot of people wanted him too because Beasley put up numbers on par with KD, and we were in need of a PF.

3 consecutive years

i say that era lol
Even then, they put up huge numbers in HS and were the top 1-3 players in their HS class. They’re drafting dudes now who not only didn’t start in college, but didn’t even dominate HS.

I agree, I was just answering brehs question.

I remember it well. They didn't really entertain Melo mainly because of Prince's play. Also, they just drafted Prince in 2002 so it wasn't a situation like having an older vet that Melo would eventually take over for.

They hit on Prince later on in the previous draft and looked at another position in 03

@10bandz already exposed you. Let's talk about that...
Nobody exposed shyt.

Making a thread based on a thread I already made about myself is exposing me now? You really think that's some gotcha moment?

Look at you, you can't even keep to the topic at hand, so you bring up something completely irrelevant and you have the nerve to accuse me of ruining the thread. The only exposal going on right now is you being a p*ssy and a hypocrite - mind you we already knew both of these things about you already.

You just referenced a bunch of stats that are predicated on the lineups a player is in, and since the Spurs only won 34 games and the Grizzlies won 48, it would stand to reason the player on the better team would have better advanced stats based upon who the play alongside.
Ya see this shyt? Ya see this manipulative shyt he be on? Straight up mashed potatoes for brains.

This is why I'm on this fakkits neck.

When the stats don't support his argument, he'll never bring it up, or in this case, dismiss it as irrelevant

But as soon as it does, he'll spew it until his beige skin turns green. Shut the fukk up, please. I'm begging you.

Stats like Win Shares, Offensive rating and Defensive rating are based on lineups. They're not directly individual stats. Therefore, you need to use the appropriate context as it relates to the player, especially as it concerns role players because they affect lineup stats less than the main options. Players like Castle and Edey are role players on their respective teams, so their offensive/defensive ratings are largely at the hands of the players they share the court with.

If x-player is on a 34-win team and y-player is on a 48-win team, it stands to reason y-player is going to have better stats that are based on lineups.

It's why 5 of the top-10 in defensive rating are players on OKC (Ajay Mitchell, Caruso, Jaylin, Isaiah Joe and Kenrich). Not necessarily because they're the best defenders, but because they're on the best defensive team, as a whole. If you put those players on a team like the Hornets, they wouldn't rank in the top-10 in defensive rating.

Simple shyt like this shouldn't need explaining.

You too damn old to be acting like a child trying desperately to get cheap daps because you have an infatuation with every post I make that you don't understand.
