I'm an atheist because the concept of a god is illogical to me. I don't think I've ever really believed in god. When I was younger, I just went along with it, not really caring either way. But when I actually thought about it, it never made sense to me.

In what way is it illogical and what makes more sense?

So you don't believe in a creator because religions, broadly speaking, teach that there is only one creator and adultery are a sin? i.e. wrong and punishable
i believe that if there IS a creator, no human knows what it is. and im certainly not going to take, say, the bible seriously when it contradicts every other religion known to man :mjlol:

id like to extend the invitation to you as well; can you pick ONE of these that you have a problem with and explain why?

In terms of the Bible god: creating the entire universe in 6 days, creating woman from a man's rib, the stories, him being benevolent/omnipotent but sending you to hell, creating man from dirt, not discussing the rest of the universe, not discussing extinct animals, the rules, god having a napoleon complex. So much stuff in the bible going against what we know from observable science.
Observable science like evolution & the formation of planets/stars/galaxies/etc make more sense. I'm not saying I have all the answers, but I believe admitting you don't know is much better than attributing something to a god that can't be proved.

So you're not atheist then, you're agnostic. The difference is a massive one

Pick which ones? The commandments?

@OG_StankBrefs you don't have to get crude. Nothing wrong with editing out vulgarity

as opposed to what, people who believe some man-like being sat in the clouds and told us "i created the universe but i'm insecure about you worshiping other gods" or "i created the universe but if you fukk your neighbors wife i'll keep that in mind"? :mjlol:
In the words of the great Bill Burr, they believe that "a woman who didn't get fukked, had a baby that could walk on water, died, & then came back 3 days later." But we're the idiots :snoop:

the fact is that we're all born agnostic, and then people get brainwashed into believing different religions, with no evidence of any of them

atheists can stand back and realize that

A lady who never got fukked, gives birth to a kid, who walks on water, then dies in cave and comes back to life three days later. If that story wasn't indoctrinated into you your entire life and you heard that story for the first time ever as an adult, what would you say ? Would still be like :ehh: seems legit :lawd: ?

Edit: @YaBoy beat me to the bill burr comment

Lets say these things were somehow "objectively" true, how would that demonstrate there was a creator?

Mind you, even things that SEEM intuitive often are not until actually proven.

Remember in geometry in high school where you spent all your time proving things that seemed obvious using formal, standard, and consistently proofs that were internally valid?

Thats how reason SHOULD work.

Just because you've either been raised to look for a creator or presuppose one exists all the time, until you actually demonstrate that one does exist, you haven't shown it to.

Could it exist? Sure. Just like anything else COULD exist...but without proof thats consistent and internally sound, you have nothing to stand on.

Well, you'd have to be a Grade A a$$hole to find any problem with those 10 items.
They all seem pretty reasonable to me.

Even if I think this idea is a bit corny, and yes I am atheist (though I don't really like being categorized into that whole "atheist" movement.)

And for comedic purposes, I rather enjoyed George Carlin's bit on reducing the 10 commandments from 10 down to 2...

So what you're saying is you can't be sure one way or another.

I don't believe in everything in the Bible and I've always found the phrase "and then God rested" a bit strange. I know a guy who believes it was literally 6 days, like 6 human earth days. Blew my mind.

I also believe it was 6 days but the Quran teaches that time is relative:

[Quran 32.5] (Allah) Rules the cosmic affair from the heavens to the Earth. Then this affair travels to Him a distance in one day, at a measure of one thousand years of what you count.

So for example did you know that since it was discovered Pluto still hasn't been around the sun once, so Pluto hasn't had a full year as we know it.

People go deep into looking for proof but I think it's about finding enough (the Quran challenges you to go and learn) and for me on a personal level it's about being okay with going on faith because that's what believing in a creator ultimately is. The Jews even after they saw the red sea parted for them eventually turned around and said they wanted to see God and made a cow god from gold.
