Yup. The Braves probably weren't going to stay there permanently anyway. They never bought the stadium. Gives them a convienient excuse to move somewhere else too.thats not why, breh

i feel you. these fukks don't realize that in 20 years cobb county will be the ghetto, and gwinnett will the new, chic place to move the team too. kasim reed is a joke and a disgrace to the long line of powerful atlanta politicians.
Yeah, the traffic is going to be fukking awful trying to get to cobb county for a Braves game at 7:00pm.I'm literally disgusted by this announcement. Disgusted by the fact that the Braves are moving from downtown (which further blights the Summerhill, Peoplestown, Mechanicsville communities), disgusted that they feel the need to abandon Turner Field (which was the Olympic Stadium for the 96 Games), disgusted since the Braves have been downtown since they moved here in 1966.
And oh BTW, this part of town (I live a few miles from where they will build the new stadium) is already congested from 285 & I-75 traffic DAILY will now try to accommodate another 40-50,000 people b/w 4-7 pm every day during the summer. There's also no MARTA line there, the closest is Cobb County transit. Terrible news, I don't know how any Atlantan can be happy for this move

i dig. and yeah i was too harsh on reed. but do you think with this new development that the falcons can move to turner field, renovate it, and save money? just asking (hope the question aint dumb lol)I'm not understanding your beef with Kasim Reed in this situation. Kasim went out of his way to be the public face & voice of the new Falcons stadium, almost to his political detriment. If the Braves wanted to stay in Atlanta he would've gone to bat for them. This is about the Braves, greed & abandoning Atlanta. Again Reed isn't to blame in this & I'm sure he's blindsided by this news
The city Atlanta is not getting gentrified? Wouldn't it be more profitable to keep it downtown, and wait fir the area to become white?

"Braves executives John Schuerholz, Mike Plant and Derek Schiller said Monday the team decided not to seek another 20-year lease at Turner Field and began talks with the Cobb Marietta Coliseum and Exhibit Hall Authority in July....
Plant says talks broke down with the Atlanta Fulton County Recreational Authority earlier this year. He adds that the team has not signed a contract with Cobb County, but he's "100 percent certain it will happen."..
Schiller says financing will come from the Braves and the Cobb County government. The team will be responsible for any cost overruns."
maybe someone could buy and turn into another football stadium (I think it could work as Georgia State's home stadium and hosting the HS championships)No that won't happen. The south site the Falcons agreed to (off Northside dr & MLK or across the street from the current Dome) is the site. Nothing will change that now. I don't know what happens to Turner Field, maybe it becomes a museum SMH
The pistons are the 4th team in the metro for this very reason. Even the Lions went back downtown.they said the same thing about the Pistons when they move to Auburn Hills. This is shockingly similar. Obviously I don't have much memory of that time but the retrospect I've heard something just like this commentary and now everybody wants them to move back to Detroit because nobody wants to go all the way to fukking Auburn Hills unless you live there already.
