Stepdad probably came into the picture later in the child's life when he had to much to unlearn being raised by a woman for so long.
There comes a point where boys on their way to becoming men stop fearing their mothers and she allows him to break appropriate boundaries for his age without any real consequences. That alone is already putting his life in danger. Raising your voice trying to make it deep like a man can only work for so long.
They lack the forward thinking to see the domino effect of consequences, always living in the moment. They also dont know much about what it means to be a man.
When a man comes into the picture and gives the boy the disciplinary energy he needs they're going to reject it, having all that self centered feminity socialized into them. The mother often undermines the male figure who's trying who's wrangle the boy into behaving correctly with her constant pity and babying.
I dont believe the boy deserved to be killed but It's a mixed bag of reactions when old boys and grown men clash. You gotta be ready for anything because it can go all the way down when you have a kid pretending to be a man trying to be the boss in front of the head of the house.
Knew a couple that had an argument between husband and wife and the wife had her kids living with him. The son jumped in the middle of the clash and knocked the stepfather unconscious.
Sadly they didnt have carpet and the fall he took to the back of his head having been knocked out in his feet caused some serious head injuries. Needless to say he kicked them all out when he got out of his coma and they're no longer a couple. Good old baby boy.

Absolutely there's a point in time where introducing a father is too late in the child development process.
I don't understand the point of being stepfather to teenager or even preteen. Better yet, try not to become a stepfather
Regardless, the stepfather is at fault here. This is very unfortunate. The fact that he shot the kid multiple times, indicates that it's straight murder. Dude obviously never gave a fukk about the kid

There’s been way too many justifications for the shooting of this kid in here. The article didn’t state he was armed with a gun or weapon so we have to assume that the stepdad resorted to pulling his gun out because of the scuffle...I’m sorry but in any event, if you pull out a gun on a kid (and not just any kid, your stepson), you’re a piece of shyt.

You cannot talk about a kid not being receptive to good parenting when the POS showed that he had zero regard for his wellbeing.
