As an outsider Atlanta makes no sense

Finding out most of the famous nikkas aren’t from the city limits :heh:

Atlanta not even having half a million people in the city. Atlanta doesn’t need any of its neighborhoods seceding they should be adding these places to the city limits.
It's weird out here. I met someone who lives in college park area and he said he is constantly bounced between two different jurisdiction over the years. I don't know atlanta that well but it seems like every jurisdiction is fighting for independence. I'm sure someone who born here can give me the break down in the incorporating, unincorporated, sucessiond and etc.

For me , it's like Bronx tryna become Westchester County and Queens saying they Nassau county.

Then add in, fukk it. We gonna have Queens police and then Queens transit line gonna be independent. Then you need a different bus pass to ride busses in Queens.

Atlanta is not that big of a city at all. shyt is tiny to be doing all this fracturing when pretty much everyone is interconnected anyway

Atlanta gonna fukk around and only downtown gonna be Atlanta

To me this situation is more like Riverdale, relatively affluent part of the Bronx with mansions in some parts succeeding into their own town and saying they part of Westchester county now not Bronx county/NYC

If Atlanta was in Texas, it would only be the seventh largest city by population.

question for the Atliens though; is there another commercial part of town like Marietta or Perimeter taking the place of Buckhead? One thing that I thought always hurt Atlanta is how decentralized it’s central business district is. You have 4-5 distinct CBD’s (downtown, buckhead, perimeter, Marietta, Cumberland mall area

the MARTA also needs to expand to the suburbs to help with traffic.

if buckhead doesn’t want that energy, build up Union city and south Fulton especially with the studios down there. Make that the new exclusive part and let buckhead go and institute a tax like Boston has that if you work in city limits but live outside city limits you pay an extra tax.

You can use MetroCards on the Nassau county buses

West Midtown is the “new” Buckhead as white people are starting to come back to the city. Lots of mixed use offices getting built. Microsoft got a brand new office, Google got a bunch of floors in one of the midtown buildings, Facebook is building something, etc.

They should break up NYC, I mean Queens started out as a bunch of individual towns that got annexed. NYC is just too damn big with no real room to create new infrastructure. The interstates in Brooklyn and queens need to be completely redone, and made wider.

I like bronx being a part of the city.

Didn’t grow up here, so my opinion doesn’t count for much, but it never made sense to me why there’s different cities within 285. East Point, Atlanta, Decatur, etc

Historic shyt. I think Decatur and East Point might actually be older than this iteration of Atlanta. Remember atlanta is relatively young as this version was founded in 1866. That area around Union city used to be Campbell county (campbellton rd) and Alpharetta used to be Milton county. Those counties were added to Fulton in the 30’s

To challenge your point. What is breaking Queens away gonna do with development? The problem is still gonna remain

Short sighted thinking.

An Atlanta deprived of buckhead tax revenue will only have fewer police and mental health professionals to stop crime from entering the newly independent buckhead.

They acting like cityhood is some magical wall against the rest of the ATL metro:francis:

With their own city they can pass ordinances, rezone neighborhoods and enforce laws that benefit them.

I think it would allow for more of the tax and other forms of revenue to remain more local and not end up paying for Manhattan shyt. Try to compete for large corporations, and create their own port authority to run JFK.
