West Midtown is the “new” Buckhead as white people are starting to come back to the city. Lots of mixed use offices getting built. Microsoft got a brand new office, Google got a bunch of floors in one of the midtown buildings, Facebook is building something, etc.

And all those job postings are engineering jobs catering to GA Tech. Atlanta public school isn't setup to even take advantage of these big time companies roles. It's just gonna be more transient people or folks who went to engineering schools

Nah, Buckhead was the seat of old white money in Atlanta. It’s like Park Ave area in NY or Georgetown and NW in DC.

It’s way more diverse than it was in the 90s though. It’s also more diverse than the white wealthy enclaves of Manhattan, DC or LA. thanks to the entertainment industry.

There has always been tension though. Back in the day, you didn’t have homicides or the BS you see with the younger generation, but they essentially closed down one of the best nightlife districts ever because we became a nuisance with all the cruising up and down Peachtree in the early to mid 2000s and we took over all the hot spots. The beginning of the end of the party district was Ray Lewis situation and the Meech/Wolf shootout basically shut it down.

Yep. For most black peoples and for obvious reasons, making it meant moving out to the burbs. It’s like how NYC rappers moved out to Jersey and Long Island.

what nightclubs? If buckhead secedes the first thing gone are going to be the nightclubs. Last call will be 12am. These clubs don’t have the money to fight the cities. Similar to how chamblee got rid of all its strip clubs. (RIP Follies). That’s the whole point of this move they don’t want nightlife in buckhead. They want to get rid of water boys, have parents chaperone ppl under 16 to the mall and a precinct right next to the mall
