A lot of people (black and white) genuinely think that if you grew up with a father, that you did not have an authentic black experience.

I've heard people say thin out their mouths on a couple occasions :why::unimpressed:

Or that is you grew up in the suburbs you didn’t have an authentic black experience.

The tropes goes both ways.

Then turn around and say black people aren't a monolith. I'm tired of nikkas trying to police and gatekeep black identity. And it's always the ones that are insecure in their blackness that be doing that shyt.

Someone else mentioned that I should voice my opinions to the event coordinator. I have to think how to tactfully say it without being offensive, but I think that would be hard to avoid since I vehemently disagree with the pandering that went on and basically thinking that the coordinator just wanted to talk about a subject he had limited context on.

Gang violence...
i would assume anyone attending this doesnt need tough love. people attending "brunches" are probably doing ok.

furthermore, tough love is only something close friends and family can perform. among strangers, it is just adversarial. on a community level, brehs need stability, education, mutual aid, and as close to a job guarantee as one can get. anything else is a time waster
