Attended church for 1st time in a decade...I see why the black race is last...

Im not much of a religious guy, but there is a lot to be said for believing in a higher power bigger than yourself. The idea that the church champions selflessness, love, and being grateful for what you have enrages people like you because you have a lot of hate in your heart. Religion has a theory for people like you, and the entity that controls your heart and mind.

Happy to hear that there are churches out there that are tackling the issues of our time but the bolded pretty much invalidates any progess the church can make.

Even in the most progressive churches, the idea of a loving sky daddy is poisonous to black folk. It has LONG robbed us of our autonomy in solving our problems and instead, instilled in us a desire for a better AFTERLIFE/for Jesus to "return" and remake the world. nikkas cry, want change, but instead of creating our paradise on earth, we "pray" and "leave it up to god".

And once again even the most progressive church has to reinforce that Yahweh is a omnipotent loving god that can do it all....Thus making people rely on a beings whose miracles they can never truly validate (even tho all "glory" ie "good events/accomplishments" go to god and no bad even though hes the omnipotent ruler of the universe...) and thus yahweh can never disappoint, especially because he doesnt exist.

Who are you trying to kid? People who attack others like you do, and describe millions of people in such negative, absolutist terms are not looking to "solve any problems". Your theory makes no sense. With the rates of violence (both interracial and intraracial), rates of crime, and rates of destructive riots in black neighborhoods about the last thing I'd call our communities is "docile and submissive".

The point is, good or bad, what's the purpose of the black church currently? How is it currently helping our community?

I attend a church that I'd basically all black, pastor preaches sbkut investing , budgeting , saving all things that are in the Bible, community events, outreach.

I was totally at the males in the pulpit.

Southern Baptist or whatever you want to call it. They're basically the same.

I just sat there digesting what was said and the body language...smh.

Christianity is all about being submissive, and it's drilled in you from day one. The pastor, associate pastors, and deacons all had that same submissive stance.

It comes from the teaching that we're all God's "children" so we should be children in "his" eyes.

Christianity is indeed a great tool for white supremacy.

The bible can be used to shyt on just about anyone. It was used to justify slavery in the hands of some people, or keep women viewed as "less than"

Some churches just aren't about oppressing gay people (or anyone for that matter). If you want to attend a church that has obvious gay people in the church choir and shyts on them while utilizing their talent and relying on their tithes, thats on you. I'm not about that hypocrisy from the pulpit.
