All of this is currently resulting in lower-than-expected weekend projections, which will hopefully correct by Christmas Day Sunday. Already, business will be down around a daily average of -50% on Christmas Eve Saturday as is typical for that day’s business.

20th Century/Disney’s Avatar: The Way of Water is pacing 37% ahead of yesterday’s revised $14.6Mfor a $20M Friday, which will put it on track for $83M 4-day, -45% from the pic’s first 4 days. Hopefully, the sequel will hit $90M at 4,202 theaters, if business shifts. That will put the pic’s 11-day box office at $280.7M.

Did it flop though?
It's going to make close to a billion this weekend despite the bad weather

this is probably gonna end at 1.5 billion
I'd say 1.75-2 billion is probably right for this movie since it really doesn't face competition

As for the original comments... He made them YEARS ago, and I'm pretty sure was only referring to domestic. I think it needs 800-1bil to break even

But...... they made BOTH Avatar 2 and 3 together, which is why the budget is so high. so realistically the "break even" budget is going to easily be made by this movie, then the VAST majority of the next is probably profit

Didn’t they film the 2nd and 3rd movie together. If so the costs should be spread across both movies.

If the 3d in this is anything like the first one I will be in there the first week. People who never saw Avatar in the theater do not understand.
This has been the source of the disconnect between fans and haters of Avatar

Most people don't care about effects and tech THAT much so when Avatar fans and James Cameron talk about the technology and the 3D it's falling on deaf ears because so the fukk what?:pachaha:

99% of the criticisms of Avatar are in regards to it's bland story. They feel no connection to any of the characters. Hell there are Avatar fans that don't even remember the names of the cast:mjlol:

Avatar is the theme park movie Scorcese should've been referencing instead of blaming Marvel but it's Cameron so nikkas are gonna put way too much Stan sauce on it

Meh...

I'll wait til this shyt comes on Disney plus in a year or two if I even decide to see it then.

I already didn't think much of the first movie and don't even remember much of it, I'm not going to see no damn overlong sequel just cos it looks pretty.
