If you know anything about Avery Brooks he is a brotha that stands up for black folks getting opportunities and on positive black images on tv.

He had to fight the network and writers when it came to his tv show a man called hawk. From getting black writers, getting black actors and how hawk was portrayed brotha Avery had to fight the network on everything.

Yeah, Trek writers thought the image of a Black Man with a shaved head and goatee commanding a ship was too off putting to viewers.

He reluctantly grew his hair out but the writers didn't say anything once the show hit stride and he went with bald/goatee look.

Overall he was very aware of Black image in the show and Hollywood and really fought to have our voices heard. The Visitor is the best episode probably in any medium, full stop.

I met him at a Trek convention, got his autograph, very friendly brother....

Sisko slander isn't tolerated here...

I love discovery, I don’t nit pick on stupid shyt like hardcore trekkies though, it’s got fantastic action good acting and the first 2 season plot twists had me like
