I'm a hard-core trekkie. See what ppl don't realize is that telling a trekkie that a star trek show has a bunch of action aint a good thing to us.
Star trek isn't an action series, never was. It's a deep philosophical scientific show with a soul. But thats what new trek is missing: the soul.
I'm starting to think it's because Roddenberry and his wife have passed on. Maybe his wife was holding everything together after he died, and once she died, the original concept was lost.

It's deeper although Berman made some bad decisions late in his run he still had a connection to Gene directly since he worked with him and was committed to keeping trek at least somewhat to the vision and standards he created. Since 2009 they aren't interested in that type of continuity imo.

Be that as it may you old heads aren’t going to keep new shows afloat or allow the newer generation (which like shows that do some moving around and blowing shyt up) to enjoy nice things. This isn’t Enterprise we are talking about, we have a FEMALE black lead we need to support or Paramount/CBS will stop sticking their necks out and we will get stuck with 5 consecutive Captain Archers for the next round of shows

The whole show is based around her #blackexcellence parents that were conducting experiments on a Klingon time Crystal and created a suit that could jump through time to help solve problems in the past. Once the tech was deemed to dangerous it was hidden. They spend a few episodes finding it, then making the jump and now we are in far future trek verse with new tech and a power vacuum left by a destroyed and recluse Federation that Michael wants to now try to rebuild.
