i still get a receipt when i self check out, so unless i'm actually stealing, I don't see how this would be a concern.

Them: You Stole that x-box,
Me: here is the proof of purchase, case closed.

One thing i've gotten in the habit is getting the emailed receipts so all i have to do search the date of the day in question on my phone whenever i need it.
:dahell: How would that help you?

:francis: It clearly says that they’re framing innocent customers claiming that they stole something that they did not.

:jbhmm: How would a receipt that doesn’t have that item listed prove your innocence?

They can falsely accuse of you stealing regardless of how you checkout, plus I don't have to prove my innocence. Burden of proof is on the accuser.
If they are actually trying to say something they saw me leave the store with is stolen a receipt will counter that claim easy. If they are just randomly saying i stole something without any footage or evidence at all, then i have nothing to worry about either. In fact i would welcome that so i can sue.

Uhh. I always get a paper receipt and have it in my hand while exiting the store.
That’s taught in Things That You Must Do While Black 101 class.

This.

I always thought to myself, how can any blacks person NOT want a receipt? You’re not about to accuse me of stealing.

You would, but how many people under 70 are holding on to receipts from weeks ago for routine purchases or items they have no intention of possibly returning?? It would be different if you were gonna be accused the day of, but apparently these are people getting accused weeks and months later.

If they accuse you weeks and weeks later, how are they finding you?

My local Wally World ain't taking my phone number and address down before I leave the store :gucci:

A lot of y’all don’t read and it shows lmao. If you forget to scan an item (meaning it won’t be on your receipt) and a store presses charges on you for it, please explain to me how whatever receipt you have is going to help that situation

So instead of not just checking to make sure u actually scan everything

Just don't use self serve :skip:

Walmart still dont have the weight sensor in most stores

And the sensors in most Kroger stores so messed up they go off regardless and u have to wait for someone to key out the error

Retarded logic and this is why management in retail is mostly garbage. They don't want to use their resources to figure out immediately (lazy), so they wait all the way til they audit and find that something came up short to watch hours of footage...no sense being made.

And then when they run the cameras back, i bet they aren't even looking at the registers when cashier's miss shyt all the time.

People always find an excuse to do their job the laziest way possible and will really try to convince you that what they do actually makes a difference

Place prolly shouldn't be in business anyway if the profit margins so bad that they running back footage for $50 worth of bullshyt. Definitely gone be out some money when you throw a case at somebody and they got they receipt

This can't be a real article

Link me to an actual case of someone being accused of shoplifting groceries months later by a market and not some viral bs story :dead: once you leave the premises after self checkout it’s end of discussion. The store would get laughed out of court for saying someone didn’t scan an Xbox game months after the fact

a receipt doesn't show what you (allegedly) didn't pay for:patrice:

None of those cases would hold up in court and if challenged by someone who’s actually innocent would end up like the vid posted where they have to pay millions for that nonsense

Is self check out fairly new in the US? Been a regular thing for over 10 years in the UK.

Most big food stores now just let you just go round and scan with hand held device as you walk round the store then just pay at end at self service

You see how it’s placing more burden on the customer. You going to keep track of all your receipts and remember to even get one each time?

I dunno what kinda shopping y'all do but is this hard? It literally prints right out. If you don't wanna hold onto it, put it in your pocket.

And yea, it's annoying to say the least if you do ever get asked and have to show it, but that feeling of :takedat: when they see it and feel stupid is kinda worth it?
