On the contrary, he probably saw the ground approaching real fast and didn't have time to make peace with it :francis:
I'm hoping the collision knocked him unconscious :wow: I got some friends that saw it happen going about their day

Looked again and from the different angles and that looked intentional

It's possible the pilot in the Bell P-63 Kingcobra didn't see it until it was too late, as he was higher than the bomber when he began to decend and bank towards the plane. When he did that, he probably didn't know the bomber was now in front of him and then it was too late to avoid; just bad situational awareness.

I guess this is what the cockpit looked like.
