This is the problem with generational issues. No one cares

Mom didn't care

Kid didn't care

System didn't care...
system has no feelings

I'm not sure when folks gonna realize the world doesn't care why or how you failed just that you did.
I sitting here reading this thread and everyone is flaming the mom. I understand your ignorance.

Do y’all not see that the boy is ranked near the top of his class? w/ a .013 gpa!

Did y’all not see that hundreds are failing in that school.

If this was 1 or 10, ok we got an issue w/the parents. But he’s at the top of his class w/ a .013 gpa and hundreds are failing.

how is this not squarely on the school.

I’ll even go out on a limb and say at least one parent tried to hold the school accountable and was dikked around so they cooled out. I’m going through this right now.

Y’all need to familiarize yourself with failing school districts (or schools)before you jump in this convo.

the concept of shopping for schools is not new. looking at the rep and success rate of students. people really fight for their kids and others toss that shyt up in the air and hope it lands right

people got every excuse in the world and you can't cash that shyt out for anything. save it. this is the same country where some people had to learn in secrecy or face death. nobody that wants to learn can be stopped.

education is a culture. the value for it has eroded. harsh reality.

So why didn't he get left back at the end off 9th or 10th grade?:gucci:
Schools can’t just hold you back, they have to get the parents permission in some instances.

Failure on the school’s part. Bet if that was a rich white private school, it would’ve got nipped in the bud back in 9th grade but, they don’t care about black kids in the inner city and just past them on. Whatever happens later happens. The mom should’ve been more attentive obviously but, I have some pity for her knowing she’s a single mom working three jobs. Kid gonna have to do night school and get a GED.
I went to a white high school for a couple years. One time I skipped last period with these white kids and the security guard came and found us at the mall. I skipped study hall. They send out search parties at white schools.
Infinite Campus (the system used in BCPSS) allows parents to literally see if their child is turning in assignments or not...

and it’s a mobile app that you can access from any smart phone smh ...
Lol you think that school is promptly reporting to infinite campus?

Where was truancy? From what I can remember at my high school if you were out 21 days of more, you automatically wouldn’t pass.
In some cities they cut your government assistance(if you have it)and threaten fines and jail time.

It’s so many variables that these dudes don’t recognize. It’s like they didn’t even think before they posted.

Some women need to be elevated before having kids

What is the kid doing school, should be the first question

if a teacher is teaching and he more concerned about the latest fashion or tawana phat butt or lil baby new single, u blaming the school or the student

I’m assuming the kid is to blame as well as the mom..,

“Lol you think that school is promptly reporting to infinite campus?”

I work directly with this schools and there’s no way for me to confirm this. So there’s definitely no way anyone else on here could confirm what percentage of teachers are using this feature in a particular school.

I’m saying the tool is there to use. Primarily to check to make sure your student is doing what they should but also to hold teachers accountable.

if teachers weren’t updating Campus Portal and that was an issue.. she coulda fought that battle in 9th grade.

This is also a choice district.. the schools are fukked up but an involved parent has the resources available to position their child to be successful.

Strange how you got posters putting 100% of the blame on the mother . Did you not read & see he isn’t the only kid the school has been negligent with .

Parent def deserves some blame as she should have been on his ass. I get it you got 3 kids & 3 jobs but that’s one of your responsibilities.

I will say I hope she just doesn’t want to go hard on him in public as she sounds like she is treating him with baby gloves . You miss 200+ days in school it’s a problem

Too many parents who have zero input in their children's learning. They expect the school to do 100% of the work in 8 hours while dealing with 20 other kids in the same classroom...talking about "whats the point of paying fees if they dont do their job and teach my child".

This is 100% on the mother being an aint shyt negligent bytch. I know this cause my aunt has a 12 year old son has zero hand in his education outside of paying school fees. Wont bother asking or helping with homework. But acted shocked and beat his ass when she finally found out that Lil boy still cant read well and cant write his name at his age back in 2019. :francis:

shyt fukks me up everytime i think about it :mjcry:

I think another part of the big issue is a lot of parents can't do the school work either to even try and help their child.

No way should a parent not know their kid can't read or spell at age 12.

He never read a book to his Mom? He never made a Christmas list? He never asked her to check his book report?

She beat him cuz she was mad at herself. Smh. She failed him.

bruh it’s Baltimore I’m sure it’s a black school district...just like Detroit, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Jackson, Atlanta, DeKalb County, Clayton County, etc.

Private schools and academies are more of white institutions
well white institutions in that white people decided on the material, textbooks, etc.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
The mom is blaming the school for everything like its THEIR fault HER son is a dumbass. Even dumbasses can get a diploma. She literally just didn't give a shyt about her sons education. That's 100% on her.

How do you allow that as a parent?

That’s the issue with America no accountability people actually think society at this point is why we succeed or fail.

:mjlol: This shyt is pathetic

Everyone is a dumbass here; the kid, the mom, the school. Everyone

I don’t get why kids don’t just go to school, shyt is easy as fukk. Just cruise in and do the work and get with bytches :yeshrug:
We all know it isn't black and white.

And if you don't place an importance on a child's education, growth, etc most children won't either.

It's also easier to drop out, stop going, not try etc when a lot of your peers are doing the same thing.

How many students would make sure they graduate if 99% of their peers were graduating and planning on going to college? They'd feel left out and made sure they busted their ass to pass.

There are also external factors like gangs, problems at home etc. If a child was raised to have low self-esteem about themselves and what they can achieve, why would they feel like they can graduate high school or get straight A's?

Even if many of us see high school as a joke and nothing to fret over, you can't say the same for a lot of kids.
