I read somewhere in some districts they removing certain tests for teachers because the teachers were not passing.....

20 bucks it's a Democrat ran district that shot happened in

post the article :unimpressed:

Schools can’t just hold you back, they have to get the parents permission in some instances.

I went to a white high school for a couple years. One time I skipped last period with these white kids and the security guard came and found us at the mall. I skipped study hall. They send out search parties at white schools.

Lol you think that school is promptly reporting to infinite campus?

In some cities they cut your government assistance(if you have it)and threaten fines and jail time.

It’s so many variables that these dudes don’t recognize. It’s like they didn’t even think before they posted.

“Lol you think that school is promptly reporting to infinite campus?”

I work directly with this schools and there’s no way for me to confirm this. So there’s definitely no way anyone else on here could confirm what percentage of teachers are using this feature in a particular school.

I’m saying the tool is there to use. Primarily to check to make sure your student is doing what they should but also to hold teachers accountable.

if teachers weren’t updating Campus Portal and that was an issue.. she coulda fought that battle in 9th grade.

This is also a choice district.. the schools are fukked up but an involved parent has the resources available to position their child to be successful.

infinite campus is updated every day. That’s how we take attendance and put grades in.

A parent can look on there every day to check attendance and grades.

I had a parent screenshot me her sons grades in other classes besides mine and asked me if I could talk to those teachers to see if he can do some makeup or extra credit work.

Also, in high school, since you have your own schedule, don't you repeat the classes you fail and move on in the subjects you pass or is Baltimore different? :dwillhuh:

system has no feelings

I'm not sure when folks gonna realize the world doesn't care why or how you failed just that you did.

the concept of shopping for schools is not new. looking at the rep and success rate of students. people really fight for their kids and others toss that shyt up in the air and hope it lands right

people got every excuse in the world and you can't cash that shyt out for anything. save it. this is the same country where some people had to learn in secrecy or face death. nobody that wants to learn can be stopped.

education is a culture. the value for it has eroded. harsh reality.
The sheer nature of being an educator means feelings are implied. Now there are some who don’t care but they aren’t gonna tell you that. Being in education and not caring is completely idiotic because of the stress. It comes down to who you deal w/. I have two kids. One teacher is the best I could ask for she cares. The other just just care about my kid. She could very well love everyone but him. So you are kinda wrong about the system.

You are right the world doesn’t care depending on who you are or what you have. That why you do your due diligence and document in every situation.

I kind agree with at the same time disagree.

you can’t just send your kid to any public school. Where I’m from you have a list of maybe 3 options and if you are in a poor area you might be fukked unless you get a good teacher. Because they send bad teachers to poor areas. Those area also don’t hold staff accountable because in some causes it’s just a means to an end/stepping stone/just a check.

yes, overall the value of education has eroded. But I can’t tell by your post you really don’t understand the nuances of this topic. It’s deeper than just”nobody that wants to learn can be stopped.”

There is most likely more to this story. Did the Sun do a story on this? I don’t trust Fox45 or any local TV news.

That aside —as others have mentioned in this thread— these mothers need to given money directly so that they can stay home with these kids instead of working.

This is ultimately the problem with the black community, we don't take school seriously. There's colleges dying to enroll us, y'all know how mad cacs and cacasians get because we get chosen over them? but we can't even take high school serious.

YOU did breh. YOUR school does.

Are you saying your school has hundreds of failing students?

Are you saying .013
Gpa is at the top of gpa at your school?

Do you think that school was pushing infinite campus on those students and parents for attendance and assignments purposes?

You school sucks if you are doing what the school in op was doing, sorry.

I’m very familiar with infinite campus.

Mom asking where the mentors at is her saying she needs help.

We have a societal problem, it includes the system, the parenting and the culture.

1. The System - It failed breh, and it appears nearly all the other kids. If this guy is in the top 50%. That means THERE'S A WHOLE SCHOOL FULL OF DUMMIES!!!

2. Parenting- Failed breh too. Realize you must work, but especially when you have kids, there must be a balance. You know what type environment you live in and can't leave your child to raise himself. Find the father and give him a few months in jail for neglect.

3. Culture/Society - Society feeds off such failures. He's either going to work for us in fast food or in prison. I'd wager that in his community academic failure is the norm. Going past being the norm...it's probably a right of passage. That's culture. Failing academically and becoming a dealer, rapper or bum is these kids expectations. That's culture.

As black people we need to get our culture in order to counter predation and neglect by this system.

Something similar happened to me like that.
I went to a technical HS in upstate NY. Unique HS that was different from the rest of HS around. We had a 3 class length shop class in the morning, which went on for 3 periods. I had no admiration on becoming a locksmith or making hammers, so I would skip that class after being bored with it. I would hide my report cards from my mom and come into school late everyday to avoid that class. Halfway into my jr year, I realized that I would need 2 more years to make up for that class, that no other school had. If you missed more than 4 days a semester, you automatically failed.

Long story short, I stopped or barely went my senior year until I got expelled. I was 16 at the time. I knew I could get my GED and go to community College(which I Did)..

Years later, the school got rid of the shop classes that were hindering me, as it was not modernized for kids in the new millennium. I never blamed the school though, as it ultimately was my decision

I send my daughter to a majority black Catholic school for this very reason
:mjpls:

Not everyone can afford tuition.

My parents sent us to private Nursery, Pre-K, and Kindergarten, and Catholic elementary. The demographics at both those schools was pretty good with about a 50/50 black and white with students, but NO black or non white teachers.

We had the option to go to catholic high school, but we chose to go to public high school, but by that time, we had a relative that lived in a better town, and we used that address to go to that high school, and it was a better quality school, with about 50 percent black, 30 percent white, and 20 percent everything else, and a good mix of black and white teachers and high ranking faculty.

Since my mom gave me the house, the neighborhood has gentrified, BUT those people do not send their children to the local public schools, and there is little effort to improve those schools.

Even before gentrification, two of the neighboring white towns were supposed to send their kids to the local high school, but they somehow made a deal to allow their kids to go to a high school that is 20 minutes away. And only the kids in those areas are allowed to go.

I read an article that the city makes 4 million a year just from parking fees downtown and the beach area. Where is that money going?

That's a strange flex because teacher standards are set by the state, not by the district. And the majority of states with really shytty education systems are Republican-run.

Was he left behind or did he not give a fukk?
That post doesn't even make sense - do you understand what NCLB was or did?

The bill systematically fukked over poor and underperforming schools in almost every way, ensuring that they would either consistently decline in quality or become worthless standardized testing mills that no kid in their right mind would ever want to attend and no parent would ever want to send their kid to. It was the worst single step in education quality in my lifetime.

I literally do not know a single educator in real life who thinks that NCLB improved the quality of education that kids receive or their schooling experience.
