They need to fix the educational and economic conditions of the people in the city.
Is it a coincidence that all the wealthiest cities and neighborhoods in the country have low levels of crime?
No. It’s not.
But everyone wants to keep acting like it’s a parenting thing or a society thing or a culture thing or whatever. And sure. To some degree that matters. I don’t deny that in some part.
But come on man. Follow the dollars. That always tells the story in America.
Anyone who ever suggests a solution that will involve upsetting the status quo goes missing.
They're fine with rhetoric but when you actually start putting the people who have money and power on blast and organizing people to take them down, you mysteriously go missing or die.
Martin Luther King was annoying to the power structure whilst he agitated for more political representation. They were angry but didn't think "oh we need to HANDLE this" until 5 years after the March on Washington when he started getting further and further to the left and more aggressively questioning capitalism and wealth inequality.
I've never heard of a person who makes over 50k a year at a 9-5 committing petty crimes. I've never heard of a kid whose parents are both in the house and spending time with him falling into a gang.
