Very sad. If my church were to go under today, the community services FREE OF CHARGE to ANYONE that would disappear include: foodbank, low-income tax services, operation christmas gift, operation back to school bags, holiday community dinners, community bbq (twice a year), prison ministry, street ministry.. I could go on. The community my church serves is VERY diverse. We are beside a jewish community center and a school that has a large muslim population and they come for the dinners. We are a small church (300 members at most) but we offer services faithfully. I bet the same ones laughing sit their lazy butts at home when people like me are handing out food and helping people file their taxes.
It ok just let them sink, these same people are gonna be bytching and moaning when the effects of losing black churches comes to their door step. Just gonna have to learn the hard way.

Reading comprehension is key. I said they have no business being Christians, not that the can't be Christians.

I'm not going to argue about the theological leanings of people as they're all over the place but many Christians are encouraged to actually read the text and draw their conclusions from there. Of course the whitewashing has an influence on those raised in American culture but that's true of many facets of life beyond religion. Unless you're claiming that people that aren't you aren't intellectually capable of understanding these things you're still claiming to be the one that knows who should practice what.

True or false, was Christianity used as a tool to subjugate African people in the Americas?

nikka we know you don't have the power to control what people can and can't do. You know full well we're talking about you saying how they cant/shouldnt be Christians so lets not waste time on semantics. And you're still not answering the question. Who else can't/shouldnt practice what religions?

These black pastors know these stats....last church I went to last year...the pastor was going HARD on the money talk :mjlol:.....on the projector, they kept showing how you could text your tithes...u don't even gotta come to church...just text God's money :ohlawd:

I'm actually thinking the for profit churches might be killing the competition.....people like that money talk more than that be like Jesus talk....some churches are growing while others are going outta business

it's that lick talk that lick talk (prosperity teachings)

people don't wanna hear SALVATION no more....they too busy dealing with financial issues..so they wanna be up on some GAME

that's why dudes like CREFLO DOLLAR and KENNETH COPELAND are winning..

if your pastor is flying g4 jets.....then he must be blessed

but if he can't even pay off his Sears credit card then he must be stressed....

CAUSE in todays world ...money ain't everything..it's the ONLY THING

I know my father is a the pastor of a church, been pastor for last 7 years in the movement he is a part of.
He helped the church pay off its mortage and then bought the land next to it outright and finished paying off the house next to it that they use to house members who are down on their luck.
He doesn't really harp at all about tithes and they don't pay him because he told them he and my mom are good because they actually had/have jobs most of their lives and saved and invested.

Sadly a lot of preachers in this nation, don't know about that, they nickle and dime their members to support their own lifestyles.

The black church hasn't been same since the 60's and 70's, back then black churches acted as community center were black people could get protection from white people , gainful employment and financial help. The black church today is a mockery of what it once was.

I disagree.
Same church, its just that you have a black populace that has more opportunities, more education, and doesn't need it to be a central rallying point like it used to.
Black churches now are filled mainly with women.

Reality is that pastoring is a full time gig which is why most are paid. My father in law is a pastor of a church that started in his basement and now has hundreds of member. He's at the church from 6AM till 5 all week until Sunday afternoon. Counseling, mentoring, overseeing operations, etc. Like your pops he worked his whole life and made good money and saved up and even after the church grew he was going down to the city 2-3 days a week to work in his clothing store to supplement his income. But he's older now and overseeing a ministry with dozens of churches now in the US, Czech Republic, Uganda, DR of Congo, Tanzania and a few other countries. Point is the church is supposed to take care of the pastor so they don't have to worry about his finances
