My main Barber where I grew up went up to $25 + tip a few years ago. He's been cutting my hair for 20 years for the most part, he's a good dude and keeps me looking nice so It's I pay it. I love going to their shop tho, it really is the men's club of my old neighborhood, everyone that grew up there comes back to kick it and get cut at the shop.
The only weird fee they have is they charge extra on holiday weekends
My dip-off barber charges $20 with the shave and shampoo, but he's old and not as good. But I go to him when I don't have time to socialize and wait around 2 hours to get in the chair on a saturday morning. My barber can always tell when someone else has cut my hair too, I'm a whole grown a$$ man with children waiting in the shop like:
I hope he don't say nothing![]()
"aww my bad bro....these are new so you gotta let them run for a while to let them calibrate...make sure your lining LASER SHARP"
"my bad, you know you gotta be extra careful during the summer....the humidity encourages bacterial growth...I use a little extra to make sure you good"
These cats paying $10-$15 probably looking terrible bbarber cutting their hair in 15 mins to hurry up and get to the next cat. There's no way a barber surviving cutting 1.5 heads an hour charging Seattle minimum wage prices. That's why some of these cats still gotta hustle on the side, they ain't taking their craft seriously, cutting broke nikkas heads all week and wonder why they not making any money cutting.
Now that $50 and up shyt is wild tooboth sides are extreme.

My barber recently moved cities. All the other barbers in the shop are trash. So this has forced me to go out looking for a new one. I've been going to StyleSeat and Booksy looking for them in my area. Have seen a lot of decent to really good barbers on there, but one thing I noticed is most of them had a "First time client" charge.
Brehs have their regular cuts from $25 to $35 then their first time charges are $55 to $70. What kinda backwards ass shiit is this? Usually you give new customers/clients discounts, then you give them the real price once they come back. Is this the new hustle for barbers?
You got receipts on this

All cuts are not created equal. Someone might just be getting a line up, another might be just getting a little cut off with a taper, someone else might be getting the more detailed cut. Ya'll act like everyone going to the shop is always getting a complex cut.2-3 AN HOUR???? Sounds like a sloppy barber to me.
Not to mention very few barbers will be booked every minute of a working day.
Agree to disagree breh...![]()
Yeah but we all know most barbers not cutting 16 heads a day consistently. And then they might just being doing a line up or something for cheaper. Yeah you gotta take 15% off that for taxes off top. Then you gotta look at other expenses like clippers, oils, sheen, spray, booth rent, etc. Being a barber can make you a living but nikkas ain't getting rich off it. A lot of cats quit or have hustles on the side and use the shop to advertise.I did some math. At $20 a cut, 16 heads for 5 days a week, that's $1600. That's if you can cut heads in 30 minutes. I wonder how many people does a typical barber get. $1600/week sounds good as hell even though it's before taxes.
Being a barber sounds lucrative![]()
Me and my Barber so cool there are days when I dont even pay and I might turn around and give him 30 for yhe hookup, but nikkas in gere talking bout 50-60-70 and up on the regularI pay 20. A couple of days ago I walked into the shop and my barber says, "Yeah, I'm gonna be doing this by appointment only in the future and the price is gonna go up." LOL. I nodded and just thought to myself. "I won't be coming back to this nikka's shop no mo....." It's not even like the dude has a line around the corner. He's cutting at a little storefront in the hood. He acting like he a stylist for the stars or some shyt. SMH.

. That's why I don't mind paying $20 for a cut. Went to a new barber couple weeks ago, think I paid $40 last time for cut, shave, and tip. Cut was perfect
