I Really Mean It

Sometimes, your fiercest enemies end up being your allies, and your closest friends become your most feared adversaries. Hate Trump and Republicans all you want, and there's plenty to dislike the guy for, but I think we are on the horizon of black America taking notice of how actual change occurs and what separates that from the illusion of progress.
Ever since the Civil Rights Act, black America had been a devout follower of the Democratic party, supporting them with overwhelming numbers in every election. And during that time, in spite of our unwavering support, we have not see a marked improvement in the condition of black America from the time before that legislation was signed into law; in fact, an argument can be made that we've declined as a community the more we've been integrated into American society.
Black people are going to have to come to an understanding that this pathological need for acceptance from white people has stalled our progress as a people. Instead of loving ourselves and recognizing the beauty of being black, we've sought approval from white people, sacrificing dignity for pats on the head.
Brokering a deal that guarantees us reparations would seem to be more achievable by working with the party that stands to benefit the most from the racial question disappearing from the political landscape. Democrats have spent decades depending on black people, stoking the fears within our community to garner support, while never actually doing anything to allay those fears. Republicans have consistently stressed certain values that would almost certainly benefit our community if their wholesale adoption occurred.
Is it not fair to say that, in exchange for reparations, black support of a Republican platform in which values that are advantageous to our community's growth would be a reasonable asking price? Do not Republicans stand to gain the most by supporting the reparations movement? Aren't Democrats the ones who would lose their position as the only party on whom black people can depend for some nebulous concept of "equality" if Republicans supported the reparations movement?
I predict that you will see the reparations and ADOS movement begin making appeals to Republicans for support because of the value their party would stand to gain from that effort succeeding.
