So you sayin that if Bron had Phil Jackson as his coach his first 7 seasons things would have turned out differently?

:ohhh:

What if he had a prime Shaq instead of Ilgauskas?

:ohhh:

Not to mention LeBron is a much better distributor/orchestrator of offense than Jordan.

Not true, Jordan had 7 straight triple double's in 1989 running the bulls offense as PG when sam vincent was injured. He could've put up triple double like lebron did but that wasn't his focus.

Chapter 37: The triple double run « THE EVOLUTION OF MICHAEL JORDAN

Triple double run

When it became obvious that relying on Michael Jordan alone to win games was no longer working, the Chicago Bulls tried a move that surprised everyone. They shifted Michael Jordan to the point guard position.

The move had an immediate impact for the Bulls. In Michael’s first game as a point guard, he dished out 15 assists in a blowout win over the Seattle Supersonics. In his next game, Michael recorded a triple double with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 14 assists in another blowout of the Indiana Pacers. The results were almost too good to believe, and it seemed as if the Bulls had found the magic bullet. But will it last?

On March 25, Michael began a run of 10 triple doubles in 11 games, including 7 straight before missing one against the Pistons where he had 40 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds. He would finish the season with 15 triple doubles, 3 shy of Magic Johnson’s record among active players.

Michael Jordan always had the ball handling and passing skills to play the point guard position, and a mere month after the switch, he was already proving to be one of the elite point guards in the league.

Here is a game on April 9th, 1989, where Jordan scored 40 points and dished out 12 assists. You can hear from the announcers the fact that other teams were having trouble dealing with Michael as the point guard.

lol i give you that mean to say could dunk on anyone like he has highlights of him dunking over ewing but looking at his highlight reel there's a balance to his game with jumpers. faedways etc.....so he wasn't always about driving the lane

The fadeaway and jumpers came later dog..

He couldn't shoot like that when he was young..

When he was a young beast, he yammed on EVERYBODY..

Why do ya'll keep comparing a refined, 33yr-old MJ to a 27 yr-old Lebron?

:what:

I don't think that's difficult for Lebron to achieve that at the expense of having a 4-8 record like the Bulls did during Michael's run as the team's PG. Only thing is, I don't think Lebron's teams would go 4-8 with him having that type of production.

I was merely addressing the point of him saying lebron was superior at running point guard over Jordan.

I didn't bring up team success as a result of such move.

On March 21st, the Bulls played the defending champs the Lakers in LA. In what turned out to be an epic showdown, Michael Jordan went head to head against another elite point guard in Magic Johnson. Michael used the opportunity to outshine Magic by dishing out 16 assists to Magic’s 12. The Bulls used a balanced attack and had 3 players with 20 or more points (Jordan, Pippen, Hodges) and 5 players scoring in double digits. Magic missed the game tying free throw late in the game and the Bulls won with a final score of 104-103.

As Jordan became more used to his new role, the Bulls became more used to winning. The team would go on to win 11 out of the 14 games after the switch, and was again in contention for the fourth playoff spot and home court advantage in the Eastern conference.
“For the most part, I’m starting to like it.” Michael Jordan said “I never dreamed I’d play that position – me, a lifelong (shooting) guard. But it helps. I can call my own plays and get everyone else involved in the offense.”

The assists started to pile up, and Michael began to collect triple doubles like he collected 30+ point games, which is to say he could have them any night he wished.

Lebron wins games when he has triple doubles.

That's not the argument however, i'm just addressing his comment and why i think it's incorrect.

I'm just saying that Bron runs an offense better, and in the midst of getting triple dubs, his teams are winning.
