Look the only difference that old timers of the 60s have and prior over the players of the 80s and up and i give them total respect for is they went through some shyt from racism playing on the road and even at home..brothers couldn't eat or shyt at certain places and receiving death threats to them and their family..

Im for damn sure jordan, kobe and lebron and these soft nikkas wouldn't be able to compete back then feeling that pressure..

I also couldn't see lebron, kobe or :mjpls: be like a 19 year old kareem standing up with jim brown and russell for ali...these nikkas would be like oj for their brands and not ruining their career

Kids are stupid. I was talking to my 17 year old nephew yesterday and he tried to tell me Bron had more pressure to get a ring than Kobe did. I tried to tell this nikka that Kobe had a 10,000 pound gorilla on his back from 2005 to 2009 that he couldn't win without Shaq and was a second fiddle and he wouldn't accept that. I get it, he was 8 years old back then so it didn't happen as far as he is concerned.

It's always been like that. Dudes like Oscar and Wilt openly stated and thought their era was better than the era of Bird/Magic and the 80's guys thought their era was better than the 90's, Jordan era.
Wilt literally said George murasan was more skilled than Shaq.

Old nikkas always say young nikkas dont have the same respect for their elders as they did back in the day:flabbynsick:

You can go into any time period in any region, you will have old nikkas saying the same shyt.

You seriously tried to argue that there was more pressure for Kobe to get his 4th ring than there was for Lebron to get his 1st ring? :usure:

Especially after The Decision? :what:

I'm old enough to remember the pressure that JORDAN was under to get his first ring, and the pressure on Kobe wasn't even a feather compared to the pressure on Lebron. Kobe going 4 years without a ring post-Shaq was "a storyline" in the NBA. Not even close to the dominant storyline. While Lebron's push to get a ring from Finals 2007 to Finals 2012 was THE storyline in the NBA for those five years, especially from summer 2010 to playoffs 2012. For every Kobe-hater saying, "he won't win a ring without Shaq", you had 10 times as many people talking 10 times as much trash about Lebron.

At least you admit that before Kobe finally won a Finals MVP in 2009, a lot of people acknowledged that those first 3 didn't really count.

Retroactive rings bullshyt.

The new generation doesn't seem to have respect.

The same goes for the divide in hip hop. It's simple respect.

These kids don't even respect the elders in they own family these days.

I was talking to this 21 yr old dude a few days ago and he told me he was a big NBA fan.

Nothing out of the norm so far.

But then he started going into detail about how he 1st started watching the NBA when Kevin garnett and Paul pierce were on the Celtics.

And to myself I was like "Damn, so u just started watching bball in 2008" But he's only 21 so that means he was like 10-11 when that happened. So it's about right.

But still if you have no knowledge of the NBA pre 2008, you missed out on some major stuff

Damn right...what I don't understand is how as a "big fan" you don't go yourself dig up what happened before...maybe it's a personnal inclination bu I've always been interested in the history of what I like...like "How did we even get here", otherewise I feel I'm in a vacuum...I think it's this constantly connected era where there's already so much to see/listen to every single day that you have no time to study your history...which is quite frightening when you apply that to general life...

I think you were a kid back then. Older generation in the NBA always shyt on the next generation.

Thats what Durant talked about in that interview he had with Bill Simmons when.

Indeed I was a kid, but I don't really remember those older players shytting on the new players getting in the league. Wanting to dominate them or trashtalk them yes, but shyt on them? Honestly don't remember...I do remember MJ saying the league was in good hands, stuff like that. But maybe I missed it.

And as far as fans go, around me older fans weren't really shytting on the new guys either, nor were younger fans shytting on older players just because...don't know, maybe it depends what circles you're in :yeshrug:
