They were two different types of safeties.

reed had twice as many picks Troy had twice as many sacks and more tackles.

It really boils down to what type of defense you want to run. Reed would cost more.
I don’t know ....I think we hated Troy more, that physical presence could really shape a game :francis:.....we knew Ed would pic six at some point possibly, but with Troy you didn’t know if it’d be a pic, a sack or him knockin your best receiver out the game, he was a monster to deal with

But Ed and Ray together ......ahhh fukk

ed reed made quarterbacks worry more tho and that’s what matters most. And he played safety which made it worse in terms of trying to throw into zone coverages. Case in point

it’s not even close. Y’all realize that Ed Reed has 70 picks and he played before the NFL became super pass happy?

In today’s NFL Reed would be averaging 10 picks a season, probably would cross 100 in his career. Also he played against elite QBs in the AFC such as prime Brady and Manning.

he won DPOY as a SS and then also is the best FS of all time. It’s not close

Ed Reed, then Sean Taylor, then Brian Dawkins then Polamalu

Facts, I was speakin from a fans point of view not a qb’s...bengals fans hated Troy in that yellow and black but we respect the fukk outta Ed Reed, didn’t even hate seein him play as the opposition.....I’m sure Carson Palmer would say something very different

but they were asked to do different things, and had different pieces around them, the same could be said for those two, so you can’t necessarily side by side compare them

I think the way you compare great players with different styles of play or functions is how they impact winning and the overall play of the defense...

In this case, both guys impacted winning and the overall performance of the defense to the highest level. So for me it comes down to, Reed could do EVERYTHING Polamalu could do. The reverse isn't true, and that's not a slight against Troy because he's obviously and clearly an All-Timer, but that tips the scales towards Reed for me...

Who did yall fear and/or hate more, the Reed/Ray duo or Troy/James Harrison duo?

Troy is undoubtedly the 2nd greatest safety of his generation, but Ed was the best player of his generation.

But boy if Sean Taylor didn't get killed. He was gonna take the mantle THAT season. He had, what? 5 picks in 5 games or some shyt?

Taylor had no ceiling, he so obviously woulda been an All-Timer. That's my Redskin...

4. Kerry Collins • NYG 4073

add to that you had cats attempting 600 passes that year

i can’t really disagree i say you can’t knock Ed’s coverage, my only wonder was would we look at them the same if Troy dropped deep more, i know at one point in his career he dropped a lot of weight, to be able to get back and forth from that Los but they still weren’t asking him to be deep that much he just used his lighter frame to disrupt the los to mid level plays

So 4 quarterbacks eclipsed 4,000 yards in 2002.

11 did that last year
12 did it in 2018.

3 times quarterbacks also eclipse 5,000 during that span. The league is different than it was in 2002 breh.
