Lol he said u can’t compare Ed and Troy because they played the position differently. Nothing to do with who was better
He said u can compare rod woodson Charles Woodson with Ed Reed because they played the position in a similar way.
Ed Reed was on another level as far as being a ball hawking safety..
Troy Polamalu was not better than Ed Reed I totally agree with Bart Scott

Completely different playing styles though. I'll have to go back and watch them again cause its been a minute, but in real time I just thought Reed could do more. Reed could play both safety positions and did, his ball hawking skills were on another level, his reaction time is All-Time shyt at that position, you could line him anywhere on the field because he was more versatile...
Thats my remembrance of how I saw them both in real time, but Troy was amazing. He had a lot more help in the defensive backfield that I recall too, Chris Hope and Ryan Clark were really good safeties...
Well they both played the same position.it wasn’t about who was better, it was saying they were comparable
Well they both played the same position.
Troy was a heating seeking missile who had great instincts..
Ed Reed was a better player I don’t know how else to compare without coming to the same conclusion
Troy was really versatile the way dikk LeBeau used him.
To me versatility is very comparable between the two of them.
What separates Ed from Troy is the level at which he played coverage. That's why he is better in my mind.
As for the defensive help, I think Ed had some great defensive backfield help too with guys like Chris McAlister, Samari Rolle, Ladarius Webb and Jimmy Smith.
And to speak to Bart, I don't think the comparison is disrespectful.
Yeah Troy was more of a box safety and Ed was free.ed played at the top of the formation, it was rare Troy played the back half, he was the literal hybrid lb/db

Yeah Troy was more of a box safety and Ed was free.
The way he would read the QB though
Watching him on film with the All 22 was ridiculous
