nope. and no, lebron can't either. if i were cleveland i'd probably look to stay at home on everyone else and just let steph cook...try to turn him into a one-man army. the warriors have so many weapons, they move the ball well, they are really dangerous top to bottom..so, the best idea might just be to force curry to beat you by himself.

This your best bet but the problem is he can play great without the ball too

And of course, the Rockets aren't doing themselves any favors in this series by constantly leaving him wide open. He's doing some incredible shyt this series but for some ridiculous reason the Rockets don't stick with him on broken plays. If I'm coaching the Cavs I tell Iman Shumpert to follow Steph Curry around and that's it on defense; don't go for steals, don't go for rebounds, don't leak out, don't go for a fast break, nothing.

I just don't get why more teams don't do this.

I wasn't a dominant defender against drivers when I played basketball, but I always shut down shooters. You know how? If I ever faced a team who had a shooter as their biggest scoring threat, I took the defensive assignment and didn't leave him. Ever. Stayed in his face when he didn't have the ball, denied him the ball if at all possible, stayed in his face when he did have the ball. No help defense, no reaching in, fought around every screen to stay with him, box the hell out of him on rebounds so I don't lose contact, no cherry-picking.

Now, the Warriors are good enough and deep enough on offense that they could still score enough to win even if Curry is mostly contained. But if I am taking my chances on losing to Curry hitting shots or losing to Klay/Barnes/Green, I'm going to take my chances with those other guys. Not saying that I'd double Curry to leave them open or anything, but I'm not leaving Curry to guard anyone else, ever.

I'd double off Barnes or Draymond then tell Shumpert to harass the hell out of Curry. Hands up and never reach for the ball when he's dribbling.

Rather him than Curry.... and have you ever run a box and 1 ? Not guaranteed outside shots are forced by any means. :stopitslime::camby:

break it down for me.....

I thought the design of the Box and 1 was just to get guys shooting outside...

I've only played in Summer leagues here and there and was a baseball player in high school....so school me

And it's not about stopping curry individually it's about defending the pick and roll and rotating so curry ain't getting open catch and shoot looks.

Good luck cavs :banderas:

The Truth
Curry is just as good if not better of a 3pt shooter as Korver is, he also runs off a ton of screens like Korver...

The difference is Currys ball-handling, ability to get into the lane, ability to create his own shot, and the ability to get others involved.

Shrumpert/Delledova/Whoever else they throw at him defensively is going to have a much tougher time guarding Curry... Then he has the ability to lull you to sleep..

Doubling off Barnes might be scary after today. :whoo:

I don't like doubling off of Draymond either - when he gets the ball in space, guys would have to collapse on him, and then he could create.

NBA coaches know a hell of a lot more than I do, but I don't feel like the Warriors are a team to run a zone defense or a doubling/trapping scheme against. The Cavs have legit man-on-man defenders at every position, and multiple guys to bring in for a spell off the bench too. Noone on the Warriors is too big to handle. Play them man-to-man.

Hit him.

Anytime you have a player who is that good you gotta body his ass and see if he can still be that good.
I think we now know this is the way to go

Just so happens we have a certain guy name Kendrick Perkins that is almost the same frame as Harden :sas2:
