only thing bird is clearly better than lebron at is 3 point shooting and free throw shooting.
lebron can do things athletically that bird just can't do. slashing, scoring in transition, above the rim plays, that block on iggy in the finals, etc.

Larry bird is a weaker defender than KD, on the same level as Dirk. He was a sharp shooter but was poor athletically and a joke on the defense end. He also had the privilege of playing on stacked teams most of his career.

Bird and Lebron are in the same tier for passing skill but Lebron has the slight edge because his passing is more varied and he could make every pass Bird could but the same isn't true for the reverse. Coach Nik tried to give Bird the edge for touch passing while underselling Lebron's touch passing ability and not even bringing up Lebron dart passing and overall passing diversity

I think Lebron is just plain better. But I also think Bird's greatness sometimes gets slept on sometimes because the back issues and his fall off. Lebron is in the GOAT conversation, Bird is just that one notch below.
Random thought though; when I get into these types of comparisons I like to play the "what if player A played in player B's era" and these two are the toughest for me. I think Bron wouldn't be any less a beast, but he probably would break down more quickly. I think Bird would be less effective but his three point shooting might make up for the lack of athleticism to take advantage of the new rules somewhat. Either way, I think that ish is a fun thought exercise for basketball geeks.
