Unfortunately at his age, he is unemploayble elsewhere, so this is it for him if he gets sick or has a major illness. You think his cac boss gonna help him out?

My Grandmother who is still alive cleaned white folks homes to put herself through school and when my Grandpop was nearly crippled from a work accident.

I respect he was loyal, but he is allowing his descendants to be wage-slaves, something I cannot condone...(it is a dysfunctional behavior)

I do have a problem with the Cac boss in 2018 being gleeful of not paying his most loyal worker peanuts for time of service(not enough as he doesn't have a car). Also, the vibe I get is cacs enjoy OGs serving them food and being docile to being the "Good Old Days" aka pre-Civil Rights era.

He survived Jim Crow, that alone should garner automatic respect...however, it is puzzling for a man to survive all of that and not have ambition to move up.

Either way, I think we can all agree that he at least is earning money and doing something he loves rather than wasting away in an old folks home waiting to die....He is 72, not 22....

Breh, you’re so wrong. I can see if he was working hard and commuting miles so his CHILDREN to have a better life. But this old man’s GRANDSON is following in his decrepit footsteps for FIFTEEN years!! He’s teaching his own children to be subservient and never achieve anything better but to be a good boy for these white folks. That’s sacriledge. And slavery. Wage slavery but still slavery. He recruited it his own grandson to be in his subservient life. For fifteen years. That’s even more disgusting then the old man being a the bus boy for cacs. To lure your children in it and no one else to say that’s wrong?? Nah, this is not suppose to be respected. White people love seeing these stories of old men in menial positions being loyal to cacs. It reinforces their superiority. And he has in children following his footsteps?! That’s slavery.

What type of man encourages his child to work like that for fifteen years? He should’ve told them to be better than him. That’s what immigrants do. Bust their ass so their kids could live a better life in the second and third generation. Putting emphasis on education. This man didn’t instill that in his grandson. That’s what makes this story so disgusting....
Not my job to comment on a mans family.

What you gonna do? Shame him until he acts like you?

Like i said. What do you propose be done? I dont like to point out peoples weak spots for the world to comment on and make fun of.

Facts. They can't fill those jobs. I tried to put some many people on when they don't have shyt going for them. It sucks not being able to work in your own community, but pondering that shyt don't pay bills. Those jobs have zero competition so I see brothas from the city out there all the time. The Fedex opening up in Niles was a godsend (I worked there for a spell) cause you could get decent pay and work around school or another job. Speaking of school, working in the burbs lets you get that in-district tuition for Oakton in Skokie, which is incredible for tech and HVAC. It's not all bad, but we gotta share that blueprint with folks.

Didn’t know that. Yeah, that’s definitely a blueprint to help some brehs out of a stagnant situation.

Some people are afraid of change. And, he has confidence in doing what he does. Taking a promotion scares him because a new role would mean he would need to learn new skills. He is afraid of failure. Failing himself, his employer and the customer.
Of course, not everyone wants to move up. They are a team player and do their best, but would rather not take a role where they are a leader/manager.
That's his life.

I’m in no way calling this older black gentleman out of his name as I’m sure he’s seen and had to live through things I couldn’t even imagine....... :whoa:

But this sounds like a punk. As a man, you don’t improve yourself or get ahead in life without taking risk. Scared of promotion because it would mean he would have to learn a new skill???? What type of suckerass shyt is this?

I have no sympathy for this man and I’ll tell you why.

My grandfather came from a family of farmers outside of Aiken, South Carolina. His grandmother was the only black teacher in the area whose schoolhouse was burned down by the brother of one of their white neighbors. My grandfather had to flee to Chicago because he killed a white man who threatened his life and his family and they had to whisk him out of there overnight because white folks from Aiken were coming to kill him.

He came to Chicago and stayed with a relative and was determined to bring the rest of his family out of the dire situation they were in in SC. As a man, he pushed himself to succeed in school and to do better than his white peers that he despised. He graduated top of his class from Lindbloom. Went to Howard and then to UofC medical school. While at the UofC, he had to endure all types of racial indignities but those indignities pushed him even more to want to succeed.

He worked his ass off and became a Pathologist and now lives in Wilmette and has been served on countless occasions by this very same man who was comfortable with not taking any risk in his life. This man is where he should be and the GoFundMe that someone started for him could be put to better use for something or someone more deserving.

I just forwarded this article to my grandfather.....

Asked why, after so many years, he never asked management for a less demanding job, why he stayed at the same pancake house so long, Loggan doesn’t register the question, as if those questions hadn’t been there in a long time. Ray Walker said he’s asked Loggan about advancing but “Loggan doesn’t want anything else — he’s said he’s fine where he is.” He said, “I think he views this as a place where he knows people, he’s safe and comfortable.” He said Loggan “was the complete opposite of a Black Panther kind of guy,” never an advocate or rabble rouser. He said that limited schooling “probably helped smooth out his world — I would doubt Loggan really ever dreamed about buying a Cadillac.”

a lot of you nikkas in here have Wilmette connects. I've never been there and dont know any black ppl who have.

:mjpls:

And just for the record, damn near the whole southwestern portion of Evanston is black. There have been blacks in Evanston since the early 1900s.

Wilmette has a number of black families as well. Most are in the areas west of Green Bay.

Glencoe has black families.
Highland Park has black families (where Jordan use to live).
And Lake Forest has black families. In fact, downtown Lake Forest used to have an entire street full of black businesses. And they’ve been there since the early 1900s.

This guy name James Casselberry’s family, whose wife was in a black organization with my grandmother, had been in Lake Forest for over a hundred years.

James Casselberry

There were black people all over Chicago. Don’t let them tell you all black people were only regulated to live on the South and West sides during the Great Migration because that’s not true. There were professional black families in Morgan Park and as far out as Chicago Heights. There were blacks not just on the West Side but out in Oak Park and blacks on both the North Side and North Shore. We were everywhere.
