You deleted Versus and Beach Is Better? :whatusay:

Two of his better interludes... and Oceans is hella dope.

With that said, it's 8/10 for me. Minus two songs (La Familia & BBC), the rest of the album rides.

It's just one day, not really feeling those two, for the most part it just doesn't hit me. Versus is straight trash

The Opposite Of Elliott Wilson's Mohawk
I ran thru it once... theres nothing about it that is calling me back to it. It feels like KC2. He still didn't get the bass back in his voice. First impressions are a strong 2 out of 5. This won't be getting added to the rotation. I am going to try it again though, maybe through the home & car systems instead of the headphones.

What I find odd, is hearing that Guru didn't work on this album with Hov.

Dude was notorious for layering Jay's vocals to make him sound like he has more bass in his voice than he does. Maybe that's why he sounds so high-pitched on this joint. But it's wild that there was no Ye' or Just Blaze involvement on this. Swizz was all up in the commercials and barely got a look on the album. LOL!! This was basically a Jay-Z/Timbaland album. The one cats have always wanted.

My brain is already mixing thoughts. Hugely obvious - this album is such a mixed bag of sounds - shyt is all over the place. No transitioning and flow to the album at all. It's fast food. I enjoy listening and it definitely has elements that are all be parts of what could be a number of great albums, but these songs don't fit together - and I mean they don't fit together at all.

It's so close to being a great album, but the lack of a finishing sound and coherence (some tracks sounding OG and warm, others sounding cold, sterile, modern, and THIN) creates a dissonance. As a big Jay fan, big Nas fan, just a big rap fan in general, what I can take from this album is that Jay-Z was in the studio to have fun, and make some music. Didn't matter about it being an album, he had a session and this is what came of it. These were the tracks.

I am just hearing about Young Guru not being in on this album - anyone have any more details on that? Awesome Wells? I agree with what you're saying.. very interested in knowing more.

Can't believe we're listening to the same album. Take the exact same production and lyrics and put J.Cole's name on the Album cover instead of Jay-Z and these ratings go down 95%. It's like nikkas convincing themselves that the new Jordans look nice just because the retro's were nice.

Sun rises in the East
Dissappointing.

It's waaaay better than Yeezus, but waaay worse than Blueprint 3.

With all the hype and marketing surrounding this album, I was expecting some earth shattering dope shyt. But nope, we have been duped and bamboozled.

Even the title "Magna Carter Holy Grail" implies the album is going to be some next level shyt, but cot damn, this was just another mediocre unfulfilling album that is pumped out to the masses everyday.

3.5 Mics

I don't know why he wasn't on there. It's all these other engineers being credited. Guru is dope, but I'm still kinda mad at how he mixed and mastered American Gangster though. shyt sounded like a damn mixtape.

Maybe the schedules didn't match up. I don't know. But then remember Guru just came out and said he lost his computer or whatever, and people said there might've been some Hov music on that. Maybe that got him canned from this joint. Who knows?

WTT was 4.5/5 for me

Jay was spittin better and I feel the bangaz were better

This gets a 3.5 for me

The first half of the album is meh...

The second half is :ohlawd:

Maybe I should wait to get that official quality..but...based on the big biz link...3.5 is my score
