Be honest, will you be paying $80 for games?

Rockstar, Fromsoft and maybe Larian are the ones who will try and get away with it.

80 bucks in the early 90s is double the price in today's dollars.

Boo hoo crying over 80 dollars
You flabby heads be moving backwards and goofy

Y’all should be the main ones trying to stop games from increasing prices cause y’all know what it used to be like

I dont think Fromsoftware or larian will do it. Larian built their reputation on being “gamers first” like CDPR did during Witcher 3 development.

I think outside of Rockstar and Nintendo no one else can really afford to to do it. So Far Nintendo’s 80 game is a pack-in that most peopel are getting for $50 and ports people are buying upgrades for. It’s even iffy if they can really do it

i spent $70 plus tax for the new Doom game. Never again spending that much, only exception is GTA 6.

Only real reason I mentioned the others is that they notoriously never discount their product. I can easily an Elden Ring type game going 79.99.

I don't mind the $80 dollars. But I only truly buy 3-4 games a year at that price anyway. With life and all the responsibilities I don't have time to sit and just play games for 5-6 hrs a time. My backlog is crazy. But there are certain games that I trust the developers to put out a quality product so I'll buy it day one. Like Ghost of Yotei. But typically I buy a game and it takes me 1-2 months to complete it. By the time I'm on to the next game it's usually on sale for $50 and I cop it then.

Also I do believe that the gaming industry is due for a correction. There is too much consolidation which stifles innovation as well as lack of marketing for new games these days. Plus there is a ton of shovelware games that are being thrown out there with a $70 price tag the same as AAA games.

They charged $40 for a DLC that you couldn’t play without the main game, so they got $100 already for Elden Ring. They have their formula

we were payin almost $80 prices be4 todays games existed ...lol
Yeah it's crazy how people are complaining now when N64 games used to crazy expensive! I remember literally only getting to pick one game for Christmas so you had to make that choice count. Used to be in EB games playing all the demos trying to whittle it down stressing :mjlol:

Even as much games as i buy every year, i dont really buy more than a handful of $70 dollar games. Games having variable pricing structures this gen is underrated and not talked about enough

Honestly I've enjoyed quite a few of the AA games this year compared to the AAA. Some of these studios are charging you $70 then you have to wait 2-3 months for a patch to fix the game. They're essentially charging us to be beta testers at this point...smh. The only people I trust are Insomniac, Guerilla Games, Naughty Dog, Rockstar to have a polished game Day 1.

the game got legs.

Look what people have done with GTA5

The workers deserve it
Not denying that but going from charging 70 or 80 to 150 is insanity. Tho I do think people wouldn’t think twice if it was 150.

Tho I wouldn’t be surprised if it was $100.

i think sony games (single player games), rockstar, CDPR, and Larian will easily deserve my $80 dollars.

these shoddy japanese games that run sub-1080p and just release looking and performing like absolute shyt is gonna have to wait a bit me thinks.
In the last year the only games Sony dropped was Astrobot and Horizon Adventures :dead:

I only paid $80 twice in my life and I don't plan on doing it a third time.

Street Fighter 2 SNES was $80 at launch
And I paid for the PAL import of Shenmue 2 Dreamcast

Xbox made the outer worlds 2 $70 again so I think $80 will be mostly Japan exclusive :francis:
