Lamar situation was more of the owners refusing to set a pattern of consecutive fully guaranteed contracts and providing any negotiation leverage for Lamar.

Bears overplayed their hand, teams no the Bears had no leverage. Trade isn’t reflective on Fields ability/talent.

Controlling the workforce as it relates to player contracts is more important than winning. Owners may have lost the battle (Lamar winning MVP), but they won the war with Lamar, Herbert, and Burrow conforming to the standard wage scale. Deshaun remains the only outlier.
