Believe the other teams' evaluations that wouldn't give up much for him.

Well, you have to look at many different factors here.

It’s a ridiculously deep draft at QB, hence less leverage for Chicago as teams can just do and draft a franchise caliber QB and there can be 5 of them in the draft, maybe more.

Then, the Bears were asking for too much. Eagles wanted Fields but didn’t want to pay so got the cheaper Pickett deal. Then Bears had no one left and knew the market was dead.

I mean for that to happen the team would have to already be stacked and you add a black qb from the 7th round. Doesnt seem like its going to happen too often :mjlol:

Purdy isnt a god or anything but its obvs hes an elite game manager. Earlier in the year I was like he would be food on this bears team, now not so sure. He gets the ball out quickly and has a short memory and is fairly mobile. Probs same or slightly better record with him this year

Can’t even do that with a 1st round pick. Thry had Lance…not as good of a team but still good.

Oh I know. I’m not as high on Purdy as other fans. It would be great to see a breh get that treatment..just once.
Off the top of my head, Jalen Hurts, Dak, Trey, and Mahomes probably the QBs I can think of that were able to be in ideal circumstances when playing early.

Philly
nothing about Atlantas actions suggest they were interested in Fields. They wanted Kirk, they got Kirk. Fields was a backup plan and we don’t even know if he was backup plan A, B, C or D for them

it’s not even clear if Minny was interested, they are clearly focused on drafting a QB

Cousins is a 12 yr pro with one playoff win, coming off a season ending injury & still gets $180M

In other threads, I say all the time...teams that develop young QBs have the right infrastructure in place. You have vets that build a strong locker room culture, an experienced OL, talent at the skill positions, stability with QB coach, OC, and HC.

Fields got none of that in Chicargo

The sad part is I know Fields has the tools & potential to be a top 8 to 10 QB.

I think most all agree that Fields got a raw deal in Chicago from the jump. He got brought into a lame duck head coach and front office that wasn’t willing or able to develop him properly. They got shown the door after year one and the new regime smartly started a rebuild. It was a tough situation for Justin

TYRONE GA!
great landing spot for Justin, tough return but I think it’s obvious they didn’t get the offers they expected. I thought a 4th was the lowest end return a month ago

time for Caleb :wow:
Waited too late. Should have done it earlier. Would have gotten something better

Then doesn't that show the evaluation wasn't that great?

For all the wild plays Fields had during his time in Chicago, these 2 will always remind me why it was time to move on...

Dude was always an "almost" there or a "play" away player. What was even more weird is how Bears fans would watch shyt like this and defend it or make excuses. Yea, he is capable of breaking open a 50-60 yard run for a TD. But it's the gimme plays in crunch time where he just continuously had mishaps. And I understand the bad play calling to an extent, but in too many scenarios in 4th quarters, when it was just time to make a fukking play he just couldn't do it.
