For a number of reasons. I'm in San Antonio right now. Moved here from Atlanta for a tech job five years ago. I hate it here for a number of reasons. Time for me to move. I have considered Austin since I have tech contacts here but I also looked at Raleigh. here's why:

-I work in technology as I mentioned. Raleigh has Research Triangle Park. Silicon Valley of the East Coast. RedHat, EMC, Cisco to name a few companies. Plenty of startups too.
-Young city / college town vibe yet you can go to Durham or somewhere and raise a family from what I heard.
-Diverse (more diverse than South Texas. It's mostly Hispanic here, very few blacks)
-Low cost of living. You can stretch your dollar. It has a similar cost of living to San Antonio.
-Four seasons.
-Few hours from Atlanta, few hours from DC. Few hours from the beach & mountains
-More women than men in that area.
-Politically moderate.

Also I've heard great things about Charlotte but it's not on my list at the current moment. I have used this list a lot to help me narrow down even though I work a remote job

Raleigh is high up there for good reason.

Looking to hear more positives and negatives though.

Jokes aside break the bread to try to fly down there and spend at least a weekend...living in Raleigh sounds terrible to me having spent a few months in Durham :to: but maybe things feel different.

Spend 5 years of your life in San Antonio brehs :scust:

Follow that up with a couple of years in Raleigh brehs :scusthov:

Do all of this after living in Atlanta brehs :damn:

Ha I was living in Atlanta when I was young or in my mid 20s when I was broke. It was fun, but I don't want to move back any time soon. I go there a lot and I think someday I will have to move back and take care of my family and stuff. Right now I just want some healthy distance from my family.

yea maybe it's a slow pace. May just get a flight out there like you said.

It's a college town so there is always something open you can go to and do/eat but please don't come here thinking it's non-stop partying or it's NYC, ATL or LA. Night life exist but it's :yeshrug:, There's always shyt to do in the state so if you don't mind driving you can always find shyt to do

I'm in my early 30s so I know it won't be nonstop. It's nice to have that option though ya know? Like a bigger city. I can get down and do that sort of stuff. I will have to think about it though.

I'm 35. I mean you can always dip on that 3 hr ride to Charlotte, 6 hrs to Atl, 4 hrs to DC, 2.5 hrs to Richmond. I'm sure you can find something to do

Thanks man. I do like that it's growing still and with tech there, it will only grow more. If I get property there even better! That's the attractive thing for me. I can really generate wealth. I don't see things slowing down.

@Jparker90 well steer me in the right direction! I work remote anyways and plan on working remote jobs from here on out with my resume.

It isn't I'm getting hit in the head with interviews for 75K- 90K jobs

That's what's up! San Antonio had some tech growth but it's slowing down since their biggest tech company, Rackspace, got bought by a private firm, but Austin is always going to be a tech hub. You got Dell, Facebook, IBM, and Oracle offices there plus many startups.

The problems are the weather, the increased cost of living due to California transplants coming in, SUPER white so it's not the best option.

Raleigh is good. What type of tech do you do? RTP sounds like the move for you. Morrisville,Cary, or Raleigh.

I spent time in Raleigh and Durham. IMO it really boils down to what you're into and what you make of it:ehh: If you're in tech and bringing in a decent salary, with the cost of living you can live pretty comfortably:takedat: Nightlife isn't crazy but it's there. Durham is more of a bar scene, Raleigh has Glenwood South and downtown. If you really get bored, take a weekend trip, but that can go for anywhere. There's tons of great places to eat, especially in Durham. Low key, the Mexican food :blessed:Because of the colleges and all the jobs you'll run into people from all over. I think it's be a better place to live if you're already settled down or got G but even if you're single you can still make it work.

Where my peeps at who used to post up in South Square? :lolbron:
