Got a couple bands saved. Was going to do the extended stay hotel thing for a sec, although shyt even that isn't all that financially feasible long term. but should be covered for a month or at least till i can get a warehouse gig or something along those lines. Not really expecting to have much money for frivilous shyt for while. Certain things will be a grind for a hot minute but that's cool. A grind is a grind anywhere. Goal in the short term is to save up to get a studio apt. but even them shyts is like 1200 a month on the low end and in shytty parts of town, which is ok, long as they not airing out shyt every day and its close to the BART. still got research to do but any info would be helpful.

why are you moving?

It is VERY expensive. At a minimum, budget around 2500 just for rent if you plan on living alone. Aside from that Oakland is a great place. There’s a lot of black history in Oakland. Yes racism exists everywhere but Oakland has by far been one of the most chill place I’ve lived in. Honestly I had my worst interactions with black men while out there, everyone else was cool even the Mexicans.

:ld:

didnt know you still posted here

I mean, i don't sell drugs, I've heard east oakland is ass, I ain't trying to relocate there. but realistically how much worse is it than Bham. I doubt i'll even have a TV for a few months. I ain't gonna be staying in the jects or nothing.

You from Birmingham, AL? Don’t want to sound annoying but Atlanta being so close didn’t convince you a little to move there?

I was talking to a google worker who is Filipino while dropping her to the airport.

She told me the difference between google in NYC and The Bay was that the Bay Area tech companies were super white while she was amazed how diverse the staff in NYC was.

She also told me to apply to google because apparently the company has big issues hiring black people and are desperately trying to fix this.

I know someone who is black who works for the google office so I’m on it ASAP.

She also told me in Cali, Asians aren’t even viewed as a minority in the tech world!

I plan to visit Oakland soon. I hear a lot that Oakland is the Brooklyn of the West.

I told my mom when we visit SF I want the hotel room to be in Oakland

I've talked to hundreds of people that work in tech, alot of them don't have degrees in that field, I was shocked by this

Yes because tech is something you can teach yourself! Tech companies want people who can do the job moreso than just a degree. The degree thing is just security just to see if you have the knowledge and skill from school but if you have the knowledge and skill homegrown then they will pick you which is why I’m learning tech soon
