Nah, I'm not like a purist in any way. I recognize that there are old heads that are stuck in the past. I know some old heads talk stuck on hip hop before OUR time. I'm a mid/late 90's head. If you ask me when the best time for music, my answer is always RIGHT NOW.

All that old music still exists, you can still enjoy it. I guarantee there's old music you still haven't fully discovered and explored yet. I was just on a Sam Cooke binge after watching that movie "One Night in Miami" movie. There's so much incredible music out there and it's so easy to find now. We couldn't do that back then. And the music today is more diverse.

Just find what you enjoy and just let others enjoy what they enjoy? Why you gotta force other people to love or hate the same shyt you do? Not talking about anyone in particular.
I love a lot of classic soul and r&b. They can hate but it’s the reason. At least give the shyt a few listens with no bias. Just give the art a chance. shyt like this why not many black artists in the mainstream don’t experiment as much.

Ya'll don't get the raw and minimalist art of it. MBDTF was the "beautiful" classical art. That's his Michelangelo shyt. Yeezus is his Picasso shyt. Abstract, raw. He was just delivering the essence. Zero fluff. I took a while to get it but once I did, it was like WOW. Give it another shot and leave your expectations at the door. Just explore what Kanye was doing and feel it.
minimalism is such a copout, alot of the beats are just a mess and to sporadic like that New slaves track, one poster asked me about.

minimalism is not a good excuse, this is just trash fam.
These nikkas are old heads. Have you gone to the tunnel and battle room or whatever that subforum is called? These nikkas rap on boom bap still. Don’t have to be trap but boom bap. Don’t even mix up the formula, just stuck in the past. Love the coli but most folks here are old. I’m only here to talk bout life. When it comes to music. Anything a little different or left field is shytted on.
nikka im younger if not around the same age as you(20-25)

im not the only one who finds this trash, hardly anyone i know bumps this Yeezus album :mjlol:

it has nothing to do with being a old head or a young nikka

As I've said I really like the album - it's not the quintessential Kanye West album but it is probably the one I've listened to the most from beginning to end. "As soon as they like you make them unlike you"- was obviously a strong influence on the project as a whole. Having said that I don't disagree with people that don't like it for the reasons discussed in this thread. It is for me, a really concise and consistent take down of accepted norms in rap music with a little bit of what we want/expect thrown in at the end. That time period outside of music was crazy too - the shows, the shoes, the clothes the interviews it's all sort of lumped into one for me.

It’s not for everybody. It’s overall an industrial hip hop album.
Edit:
It’s well executed but I admit it’s imperfect. I Am A God could’ve been so much better lyrically or even better song with a different subject matter.

Damn I used to stay playing this album, it's underrated af. It's probably last on the most recent albums of Kanye's I listen to tho, I still think Pablo is his best recent album.

Guilt Trip is an underrated Kanye Cudi collab too btw

One of the fastest & furthest falloffs ever. Dude had a nice run...and made an undeniable impact on the game and the culture...but he really let that and other shyt go to his head...honestly came into this thread just to say this...

Didn't fukk with it when it dropped; not gonna ever try it again. MBDTF was his last good album.
