I was making a car payment too. It set me back.
Freshman year of college I had no money and no food in the house...
So I would walk over to the hotel near me that had complimentary breakfast and dinner for hotel guests
All they did was ask what room you were staying in, so I scoped the parking lot to see which rooms were occupied. Saw some cacs going into rm 110 so I would go to the lobby and say I'm in room 110 then scribble a fake signature on the clipboard and get my meals
Thankfully the real room 110 nikkas never went to get their meals...did that shyt for 2 weeks straight til I got paid

i was getting 500 dollars in food stamps and giving 2 to my parents bc they are old and can't afford food like that
got a cousin who murked a person and got 25 years off of 50 fukking dollars
when i was 18 we were riding around broke and out of gas and we robbed a pizza delivery person in some apartments. the triggerman would go on to work at McDonalds, get fired from there, and come back and rob it with a sawed off shotgun as soon as he got fired. Needless to say he aint seen freedom since like 8 years and probably got 16 more to go :

Put thr money I had down on an apartment, was leaving a shytty grocery store kinda job to transition into a truck driving job. Not great but much better paying. Well I got fired from the grocery store and got into a car accident that broke my hand, which costed me the driving job.
I was peddling trees and hittin ANY lick I heard about, my daily routine was scowering the streets for the quickest cash I could come by.
I would wake up at 6am to meet my boy down the street at a sandwich shop where we would get high and he'd give me free food, then beat the pavement until sundown. That was an ugly summer.

had a 24 hr gym membership when i was homeless. i used to sleep in the change room, or the bathroom just so i could sleep somewhere other than my car
i had to survive for a month off plasma donations
found a fat chick off POF that was a speech pathologist. you best believe i laid the dikk heavy and within two weeks she was letting me stay with her
everything has pretty much gone up for me from that point on though

There were some hard times where shyt was lean but I still had the basics, eggs, bananas, Poland spring water, frozen pizza and one takeout meal per day, multivitamin etc. no ramen noodle bullshyt. How the fukk you study for exams and work part-time in college on Ramen noodle? Never understood that. But then again the ones that do probably spending money on unnecessary shyt like haircuts, dro and henny.
A lot of young Black Men have unrealistic expectations on when they can truly achieve independence comfortably. Ain't no value or pride in struggling when you don't even got to. This economy is not setup for kids to become independent before age 25 anymore. It's not 1975.
Lower that ego and stack bread comfortably at home, and stop focusing on the individual and collaborate and pool money with friends or siblings. Too many of us dilute our potential compared to other races. And I don't care what argument you got against them because that's why Patel can stunt in a cash paid Benz at age 30 because he formed connections and collaborated economically with other Patels and family in his 20s.
Americans always seem to find pride in struggling and I just never understood that. If you struggling more than a Mexican something is wrong.
