It may be a mockery but isn't it more a mockery of transgender women? After all, people who want to be crass just call transgender women "men in dresses".

For people in the closet, it's more about not wanting to be labeled. Self-hate of course probably plays a role but looking at someone like Mister Cee (not the best example I know) he is someone who obviously is gay but can't bring himself to admit to being gay.

no it's sometimes seen as a mockery of women. trans women see themselves as women, a gay drag performer will more often than not, be dumped by his partner for even pretending to me a lady. many gay guys like men that are only concerned with men. many of us literally want nothing to do with anything that is considered female, not to be confused with feminine.

and when you're in the closet, it's not because you don't want to be identified for a good reason. you don't want to be identified because of the things that people will identify with you. if being gay was easy, there wouldn't be a closet, feel me?

A case from almost 15 years ago? And a case where drugs were involved? Not really the best example.

there's plenty of cases. it's that you just are more concerned in confirming your ignorance than understanding or acknowledging the truth.

lmao. right on. u still have that sig from my old group. we need to get that poppin again.

yes, we do. it's such a shame that people frown down on homosexuality as if it's the black plague or whatever. it's even sadder when as a black male, dealing with the stigma of both, there's really NO support system out there for BOTH communities. the black lgbtq community is nowhere near as strong as how the white lgbtq community is and on top of that, the blacks don't stick together either. i don't even think folks understand or realize how fukked up it is. you have blacks as well as nonwhites in general underrepresented in the lgbtq community. it's as if we don't exist.

of course, not justifying this at all but which black male would come out the closet if they know that whether they come out or not, they'll be rejected or seen as nothing to the black and lgbtq communities respectively.

also, yeah, you can hide your sexuality, but that might as well be torture. what a terrible experience that must be. imagine having to hide the fact that you like p*ssy. I'd probably kill myself. So either come out and accept yourself and the discrimination that comes along with it or be miserable. Yall are acting like thats a good thing :pachaha:

torture? have you seen 12 Years a Slave breh? that's what torture is...yall need to stop

and on top of that, black gay males are the most exploited group when it comes to entertainment AND business, imo (:whoa::manny:)!

but in the eyes of some of these bums, we're somehow priveliged? :upsetfavre:

exactly, they don't know. in fact, they wouldn't want to know.

man.... i bet some of the posters in here think that the show "looking" that's about to drop on hbo in the next week or so is supposed to be like an accomplishment to the lgbtq community. :laff: in fact, the show and the producers that produced the show are exactly what's WRONG with the lgbtq community particularly the gay culture involving males in america and the rest of western hemisphere. all trying to paint a fake, superficial image of what the "gay life" is using an urban backdrop and having the already ignorant public becoming further ignorant to what's REALLY going on. i don't think people want to know. trust when i say this, the grass is NOT greener on the gay side. in fact, it's brown.

You think nikkas got lynched during supper by sober white folks on their way to phillips 66?

nikkas are really overlooking the problem. Oppression and injustice in existence in any form is a problem. nikkas didn't go to the gas chambers like the holocaust. nikkas didn't go through the trail of tears. Does that mean we don't know that type of fear, pain and loss? No 2 struggles are the same but struggle is struggle.

People, nobody says it's the same thing they just disagree with any form of
injustice or oppression whether black, gay, Hispanic, Jews, asian, female, disabled etc.

Yea there are trends a lot of which now focus on gays what a lot of people don't realize is before anti discrimination laws physically or mentally disabled people used to get shyt on in public or in the work place for something they couldn't change

So you can't give one example better than the Matthew Shephard one? So why get angry to begin with?

no, i can give you an example. it's that i'm JUST not going to waste my time doing it for you because obviously, you want to be stuck on stupid and you can't make someone smarten up if they want to remain dumb. so i think we'll end it on that.

i'm far from angry. more annoyed that you're trying to pass your ignorance and act as if it's the truth when it's NOT.

So now you want to resort to insults. So tell me again why should I sympathize with your so called "struggles"?

it's basically BET for homos. they just know that if they men look a certain way, people (women :snoop:) will watch it. they don't do that for gay people. stuff like that show are how they sell us out.

And how many well known gay figures stuck up for Trayvon Martin, Sean Bell, or many of the other injustices that occurred among black people? Next to none. So apparently when black people are being oppressed and facing injustice, they don't care.
