of course, both struggles AIN'T the same. to say they are would be disrespecting both struggles. they both in their own right cannot be compared even though they both fall into the category of how prejudice affects certain groups.
however, just because YOU can't relate to something and can relate to something else doesn't mean that the struggle you can't relate to doesn't exist or you can undermine those that it affects. how about those of that are both black and gay? this is why it actually pays to not be ignorant because if you were open minded enough and NOT homophobic where you cared to look at the issues affecting the gay community, one of those would be racism. yes, we have full blown, blatant racism in the gay community and it's acceptable and seen as normal. it's ironic really that both communities (the black and the lgbtq communities) seem to have problems from within involving the same issues (racism in the lgbtq community and homophobia in the black community) yet both members in the communities want their struggles to be respected and accepted by the larger community. unlike the whites in the lgbtq community that blend in the majority in america, us blacks in the lgbtq community are hit with a double whammy. we're basically seen as outcasts in the black community and the lgbtq community. plus we have to deal with the regular society at large that doesn't like us for being black and gay. even though you have many white lgbtq folks that cannot relate to the shyt that black lgbtq folks go through, we're still part of the same struggle because even though they'll never experience racism like how we do. they still have to deal with homophobia and yes, homophobia like all form of prejudice like racism does have a psychological effect on those who it opposes. i've experienced it first hand straight up and see what it has done to others where they will go about lying to themselves or even committing suicide because they don't want to be treated like shyt by other people. they would rather be dead than to be openly gay where they're vulnerable to being shytted on. i've also seen how gay guys just like how black men try to cope with not being seen as equals in society to their differing in one characteristic counterparts where they resort to self destructing behavior towards themselves and their own as a means of dealing with shyt.
the OP basically ruined his own damn thread. you want people to respect the struggle of us blacks being discriminated against, racism against us, lynchings and the whole nine BUT yet you turn around and disrespect the struggle of us gays, acting like folks don't get murdered for being gay, discriminated against and etc.
how about next time when you or anybody else makes a thread like this you THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK? it makes no sense to complain about bigotry or ignorance when you're going to do the same fukking thing.
