why not become a surrogate parent?

Why no family OP?
I am not capable of that sort of love nor do I have the capacity to be responsible for others. I'm a provider for myself and that's it.

Maybe you haven't been exposed to my views or seen my posting but I'd find it hard to believe a person such as myself could raise a child. I'm not a normal human being and my thought process is completely out there.

That's fair and I would rather people understand that about themselves because I've seen my really scummy people who had no business having kids. Having said that, you'll also be surprised the impact having a kid can have on someone that can bring about enormous change in life outlook. it can work both ways.

I know people say that but in many respects I am a person that is rotten to the core and only really capable of living for myself. I can't be a father and a child doesn't deserve to have one that raises them out of a sense of obligation and not love. I would not love my child because they'd consume resources that could have gone to me.

I understand I'd have to be responsible for them and I'd see to their physical and financial needs but I could not provide the emotional support and love a child needs.

A lot of that is my parents fault. I'm sure if I had brothers or sisters my entire trajectory would have been different because I'd be forced to compromise better to get along with others.

I'm a 42 year old man that has never even changed a diaper in his life. I couldn't even tell you the last time I held a baby and I detest interacting with all children and go to great lengths to avoid doing so to the point I give simple one word answers when forced to do so. How could such a person be a father or love a child?

48 going on 49 with no kids. It’s great.
You aren't old enough to have the decision to not have kids come back to bite you. I'm fully aware this decision comes with a price and came to terms with it a while ago. A lot of parents rely on their adult children as they become seniors and the adult children make great sacrifices for their them.

There is no guarantee your children will take care of you as you get older. Even if they do there is no guarantee it’s done with the parents best interest in mind. Are we really trying to use elder care as the primary selling point to having children?

That also assumes that I some point I could have reasonably had a child in a productive situation. Sometime's life is just what is.

Juvenile mindset. The above tends to happen when you become a parent and learn on the job. Why does it say 52 years young on your handle?

I, for one, welcome our new space overlords.

Very well put. A lot people in the world do not have the capacity to be responsible for someone's wellbeing, yet they continue to procreate.

It's not just about sending the $600 child support money, then finding out thenkid had a bad flue for 2 weeks a month later.

I've seen my mother give half of herself, hell 2 thirds of her existence to being a parent. My pops couldn't give shyt but the nikka is right physically. Mentally he ain't. That man knows the corners and ailments of all his 4 cars more than any of his kids.

I've feared having kids coz of that to a point where i've postposted it until i have things figured out. I want to have kids and raise them. But I do not want to be too self-involved and all "me, me" when i should be giving a part of myself to being a parent. So i'm figuring out my career, finances and a few short-term dreams before the kids.

Are you capable of loving woman??. You could raise another Man kids if you really love a woman who made a mistake getting pregnant by an a$$hole.

Look at the whole single mom thing. Forget about what the internet says, I think you would be the perfect man for a single mother
