Further proves my earlier point

It's so hard to find math teachers in America because everyone here is on some

"Hurr durrr it's so hard omg I hate math"

BS. So we gotta important nikkas from foreign countries because they can follow directions, have discipline and do it, not necessarily bc they are smarter than us.
The people who could teach math well are working in STEM careers that pay a living wage

To be honest, the best math teacher I had was a guy in college. I had a finite mathematics course and he made it so easy to understand. Before that it was always some foreign person I could barely understand.

You gave me flashbacks. :dead: Worst math teachers I've had were foreign too. I remember my mom getting tired of seeing my low C's and hired Haitian friends/relatives straight from the mother country to tutor me and it was always :dwillhuh: sessions with them shytting on my intelligence.

Best ones I've had were Americans that tried to make the courses fun.

I think either you’re born with the math gene or not. If you weren’t born with it you can practice until the cows come home and get somewhat decent but if they change just 1 variable you start sweating bullets.
:lupe:

Put another way, no amount of basketball practice is gonna put you Lebrons level.
Not necessarily. Math is like a constructing a building.

You build on old parts to get higher up. The issue arises when you wanna build the burj khalifa without laying a foundation like most people end up doing towards the end of highschool. The "smart" kids have their entire base so they can build up infinitely, while the struggling kids are missing core concepts from 3rd grade, 6th grade, or 9th grade, so these struggling students must desperately stitch their tower together with duct tape just to get a B-grade.

everyone in this thread could easily ace a calculus test if they wanted to, its just a matter of setting time aside to review missing concepts. Unfortunately the immediate return on investment for most working adults is incredibly low for them to start reviewing 9th grade concepts at age 30, so most do not.

This ability to build is the core difference between academic pursuits and physical ones like sports. While the lebrons of mathemetics (such as einstein or Isac Newton) would be difficult to reach, literally anyone can be a major league academic (masters degree or higher in math/science) through putting aside time.

Quite the opposite for me. Our best proffesors were the foreign ones because they were straight to the point and didn't play that "you gotta critical think your way through this problem, im not giving you the answer" bullsht. Their tests also mirrored their lectures exactly, unlike domestic professors who went out of their way to obfuscate concepts.

i swear to god, i wanted to throw a chair at someone every time an American teacher gleefully said, "i put a trick question in the exam just to test you knowledge" or when an American professor deviated from a perfectly written textbook just to add their 2cents to the course materials.:francis:

Somewhere on an Xbox
Reading comprehension skills are useless if you can't understand the math on those loans and contracts to realized that you're being swindled.
That's why you bring a lawyer and/or a friend that's good at that sort of thing. Another valuable skill that a lot of people lack is the ability to circumvent a problem, as well as knowing who to go to for answers when they're stuck.

Asians key to success in this country. Parents pushed their kids hard into stem jobs. CS, engineering, medicine, data scientists, etc it’s all an easy six figures or more

It’s also what gets you into good colleges in the first place

Half of that SAT is math

As someone who excelled in math in school and went to a very prestigious university, I’m always happy to help Coli parents out with how to educate your kids. Feel free to DM, because anyone can be good at math if you do it right

If You Work on Math, Aritmetically and Geoemetrically, you naturally increase your intuition and imagination.
The Secret Asian parent's don't tell you is they make these kids do who knows how many problems at a young age when their brain can easily pick up on new languages with 0 intuition just route
memorization
This is why there are so many unimaginative machines out there who regurgitate equations they memorized
without 0 intuiton for the math because they want to show off and say look I'm smarter than you
So they can easily pick up on the math and do calculations like a computer without really knowing what is going on
The truly smartest people are the humblest because they how how math and science work in terms of truth
A lot of the professors in college specialized in the fields they have the most intuiton for and interest in
It's hard to know how to solve every problem even if you were the smartest person in math you will still come across
proofs and equations you deep don't know understand but have enough intuition to work with
No one knows everything and if they did there at an advantage over everyone else
I was teaching these racist Asian Kids how to do Calc 1 and 2 in College
Nothing wrong with that damn they were mad :mjlol:
Just do practice problems and know how it applies to real life (the math is describing real world examples )and find out what you do and do not understand and your math intuition naturally
So I started to troll them for fun once I realized their racist anger. :troll: Need help? :troll: :umad:
They like many people assumed I was dumb because I'm black, not realizing I'm a secret genius :lolbron::umad:

Definitely. A lot of these kids are just human calculators. Not much to em besides that. It’s like a lot of kids who looked like really impressive classical pianists and they play the complex pieces and all that, but you throw a piece of jazz in front of them and they short circuit and can’t do shyt

That being said, a lot of these kids are still human calculatoring their way into high paying stable jobs, and our community could really benefit from that

I think it's more about having a good memory and willingness to learn for those attributes listed. If we're talking careers though, Yea math is king. Physics is the most interesting subject for me now and i hated it when I was in school, but i blame that on the boring ass teacher. Half the class was sleep or nodding off every day until test weeks. I was in that bytch writing bars
