Benefits of joining a gym vs weights at home?

Bigger variety of machines.
Bigger weights (your space/pocket aren't limiting you from adding plates at the gym)
Pool.
Seeing other regulars make better progress than me motivates me.

I wanna say women but if you're a perv that's a negative.

if you have the space at home and can fill it with all the necessary equipment home gym is probably much better and easier on your lifestyle especially if you work a 40 plus hour a week job ...the only downside is that you lose the social aspect of the gym where you can meet friends or get dates...since I live with my girlfriend there is no need for me to be at a gym to find dates so one of my projects next year is to build an outside enclosure for gym equipment because the social aspect at the gym can also be a huge time killer and ends up destroying the flow of your workouts when someone decides to have a 20 minute conversation with you
