Between this and the Nas album I don't think I'll be checking for Hit Boy produced albums again.

He tries to make beats that are half mainstream appeal, half street and it just doesn't work to me. Everything is solid but he maxes out at a 7/10 at best. He has a very low ceiling. His sound is too clean and would work for a single or two but not a whole project.

This is nowhere near Plugs or Tana Talk.

Burden of Proof was clearly a Reasonable Doubt type title.

He got a Pain In Da Ass and Madd Rapper style interlude.

The beats sound like a modernized version of Dynasty to BP2 era beats.

I agree he didn’t have a variety of flows and also it’s too much braggadocios dope dealer that made it talk.

I wanna see him channel that vulnerable, introspective Hov, gives us both sides of the streets, talk about growing up more.

Lucky Me, Regrets, You Must Love Me, Soon You’ll Understand, Where Have You Been, Momma Loves Me, Song Cry, Somehow Someway. Also would like to see him try some concept tracks.
I think I probably enjoyed this album a little more than you but you make some good points. The irony is that I think Benny is good at being introspective. Did you like New Streets or Trade It All on this? I thought those were semi-introspective.

On his last couple projects we got Babs, Langfield, and 5 to 50. All of those are kind of introspective too.

I never thought I'd say this because for a long time Conway was just being a super goon on every song and not really letting anyone in, but now that he's starting to do that, I think the introspective joints from him are his best shyt. I thought I knew more about Benny's life story than Conway's, but now it's flipping.

Could have been better....I think hitboi is maxed out by now
To be honest I just feel like some of his sample chops coulda been better. Think he tries to do too much instead of letting the sample breath sometimes. Like on New Streets. Some of the chops sound off beat cause he got too trigger happy on the pads. That drum roll that hits every 4 bars on thank God I made it sounds obtrusive as hell too. Wasn't even needed. And on war paint I wish they just rapped over the sample that the song started with. But sample chopping is not hit boys strong point. He'll prolly get better over time. I respect the fact that's he's trying new shyt. But overall I still enjoy the album.

The Cow might be the best track to ever come from Griselda :wow:

The little drum roll on Thank God I Made It threw me off too. I didn't mind how they did War Paint. I thought it was creative how he timed the drums to be on and off. Mater of fact they did that a few times on here where I thought there wouldn't be drums and then they landed.

I agree his chop game isn't his strongest point yet but I didn't mind the chops on New Streets, even though they're right "on top of the beat" and semi-aggressive considering the sample.

Daps/rep for being able to talk shop about beats but in a way that's real easy to understand.
