This is where I get a bit confused.
Doesn't playing the album actually show that they've listened to it all the way through to base their opinions?
I guess I need to know what specific type of channels you're speaking on for context because listening to albums before criticizing it actually sounds better than what @SirBiatch (aka TochiRTA) used to do where he would just ramble on about an artist or album on his channel without breaking anything down and use outright false or exaggerated narratives just to seem like some hip hop head.
Cynical or positive, I enjoy people who can actually break down the songs or show signs that they actually listened to the project.
And maybe I didnt articulate myself nicely.
I'm talking about how the negative detailed critique gets more traction than the positive detailed critique as if the negative version has more validity.
it doesn't - it just has more hot takes and shock value.
Like I think there are more people who will skew their critique towards the negative only because it generates more clicks which is their ultimate goal so in that scenario clicks are more valuable than conveying an honest perspective.
Fox News has turned this into a business model - hot takes and alternative facts.
