Why not just have open primaries? I guess all that big tent talk is just that, talk. :francis:
This is a state issue, not a national party issue. Which is why I dismissed it when it was brought up as rigging the election for Clinton by the DNC.

1.) What tangible affect did they have. You made the claim. Can you provide data to support it?

I said you can't put a number to it but when its plastered on every TV news station, that's the intended effect and why folks felt that it was rigged as well as the reporting and analysis that counting it with no context.

2.) The Washington Post has the right to go against a candidate. Freedom of the press. Is there any evidence they were paid off? If not, this is a non issue.

No one said it was an issue as far as that but to act like the media wasn't threatened by him and wanted to do the most to minimize him. You mentioned that as if it was a fair playing field as far as coverage. It was kooky Bernie, inevitable Hillary and the enigmatic and crazy Donald that drives ratings.

3.)What ridiculous rule kept people shut out? In the vast majority of states primaries only require registering to vote (picking a party if they aren't open) and show up to vote. What did I miss? Need more details.

Open vs closed and the deadlines. Again we're talking about the narrative and why people felt that way. Whether there was any involvement by the Clinton camp, it had the effect of making people feel like they are being shunned by the institutions that are supposed to encourage voting.

4.)The same systems were in place when a newcomer in Obama beat Hillary. :obama:

That was a presidential campaign. Entirely different and no ones saying Bernie has the intangibles Barack had. Tbh, I wasn't that aware of how the media coverage was then as well. I'm done talking about 2016. Again I was talking about these primaries.

My point here is you're saying that it was rigged by the DNC for Hillary.

But all I'm seeing is personal gripes and excuses for why people don't vote.

Understand, you won't convince me of a scenario that justifies why someone who isn't getting what they want chooses not to vote.

It's just too counterintuitive. It's a bullshyt narrative and a losing argument.

Regarding these primaries, progressives are getting plenty of air time.

Some wins. Some losses.

But I don't see a progressive wave swiping through the democratic party in areas that weren't already dem strongholds.

And from personal experience, progressives and establishment dems aren't fighting with each other in conservative states. :manny:

State primaries decide the national candidate. :snoop:
You dismissed it cause it is counter to your argument. You're not slick. :rudy:

I dismissed it because the DNC does not control it. :russ:

If you want your state to have open primaries, then vote for candidates in your state legislature who support it. :beli:

Early primary deadlines frustrate New Yorkers left unable to vote

Y'all need to learn election law.

You're only allowed to change your party designation in November in NY.
I'm fully aware of election law. But that isn't rigging the elections from a national level. That's your state's laws. People who are upset with it should make it an issue during the election or know their deadlines.

:comeon: Just like when you said you were switching back to independent from Dem now that the presidential elections had passed and you don't identify with Dems.
