bernie is like everything else in today's society
appeal to the basic, non-thinking, non-intellectual everyday american
this is why he's such a pop culture phenomenon

every bank in the world would go under if they went around just giving out "affordable loans" to everybody.
His stance has been explained enough that I'm literally just going to call you a retarded fakkit, put you on ignore, and keep it moving

I pray this man doesnt end up in the white house

Let me explain something to you because you aren't thinking this through at all, my man. The more emphasis you place on Banks with more control towards our economy, the worse it becomes. We can cite more than enough history for that for CENTURIES. It is a simple equation that ends in ruin for most countries. There is however a exit but it involves people on the street and action taking to "Breaking up concentrated banks that are too volatile for a C-O-U-N-T-R-Y" Repeat that over because it is important. Let that sink in.... let it sink in,you got it? Good,Dead7

When banks are consumed with just making enormous profits, the whole system becomes tainted & undesireable. That is what's happening little by little.

Let me show you something because you probably aren't aware of the Banking System that much judging by your responses. So let's go to Michael Hudson: (His credentials are off the chart) Professor, former Wallstreet Analyst,Historian, multiple degrees, author etc)

I don't support market charlatans. So don't cite any of that here, you will get dragged if you try that, trust me.

Michael Hudson just beautifully ethered you and your Snoop Emoji, have a nice day.

:mjlol: emotional and reactionary. such wisdom.

this is just like debates I have with my pops. he really thought "socialism" was a "FOX NEWS" right wing term until I told him few months ago

he thinks people should get 15 dollars an hour, but he always pushed me to go to college and he'd always tell me that if i didn't get an education i'd be [insert demeaning low-level job here] - I ask him if a cat fresh out of prison or somebody with a GED should be making 15 dollars an hour he refused to answer and eventually left the room...

i'm telling you, there are literally millions of functioning adults out here, that if you ask them basic 3rd grade logic questions, they wouldn't be able to answer; but will fight you to death over their "beliefs" though...we're living in some weird times :francis:

The shyt is sad, it is like debating scientologists except with financial matters.

What really gets me about all of this, somehow people think if you create flexibility for americans that it will end in destruction of america. Which is proven false all over the fukking world. Sustain your workforce for your country.

Here's one of my favorite clips of Milton Friedman getting the third degree about his grandiose claims of "Trickle Down Rapture" by not a bitter person but a son of the Johnson & Johnson dynasty.

Amazing....

Most of the people citing this bullshyt have no CLUE who Milton Friedman is. Here he is and he can't even back up his own economic theories of prosperity. Listen to Steve Forbes, it is absolutely stunning we look at these individuals as deities of "American Dream"

This is classic:

Just keep in mind that your retirement accounts, pensions and insurance policies rely on dividend paying bank stocks and bank bonds.

I understand where Sanders is coming from - he's essentially talking about restructuring the social contract between corporations and society. Corporations currently exist to maximize shareholder value in the long run and changing that will not be easy and its effects are not predictable. As an investment banker, I clearly would prefer he wouldn't mess with that because I have something to lose rather than gain, but I'm still glad its being debated. I don't see why the system we have should be considered the end game of economic structure of a society and we should continue to try to improve it.

Of course, when bonus time comes around and see how much they took from me in taxes, I may not feel the same for a few days, but I'll get over it.

So a Dem-Socialist said something Dem-Socialist, explicitly a part of his ideology, and there's shock?
What next, he wants to make education affordable?
Maybe want to end homelessness?
He may even go far enough to say we should all have equal opportunities at happiness :lupe:

How have banks making record profits over the past say 8 years benefitted the proletariat?

You guys do realize at least in principle that one of the terms of the bailout was to shift SOME of the money away from investments and to go back into old fashioned lending for small businesses and households. How much more money has gone to say, first time home buyers, or those trying to open up businesses. How much of those record profits have gone to minorities, who don't have bad credit or outstanding debt. How much has gone to those who got swallowed up in the housing bubble. Short answer not enough considering the billions these banks have generated in income for themselves.

I'm not saying Bernie is 100% right but he is at the least making people think and have serious conversations in the way their money is being handled and where it is going.

and it wasn't bad until the interest rates shot up on those Arms and balloons. They were still making profits on these loans before those predatory terms were over.

They were giving loans to people who couldn't pay them back.

That's never good.
