Just keep in mind that your retirement accounts, pensions and insurance policies rely on dividend paying bank stocks and bank bonds.

I understand where Sanders is coming from - he's essentially talking about restructuring the social contract between corporations and society. Corporations currently exist to maximize shareholder value in the long run and changing that will not be easy and its effects are not predictable. As an investment banker, I clearly would prefer he wouldn't mess with that because I have something to lose rather than gain, but I'm still glad its being debated. I don't see why the system we have should be considered the end game of economic structure of a society and we should continue to try to improve it.

Of course, when bonus time comes around and see how much they took from me in taxes, I may not feel the same for a few days, but I'll get over it.

Excellent point that people here like to keep ignoring.

bernie is like everything else in today's society
appeal to the basic, non-thinking, non-intellectual everyday american
this is why he's such a pop culture phenomenon

every bank in the world would go under if they went around just giving out "affordable loans" to everybody.

lol nah brah banks WANT to make sure their customers can afford the loans they give them.

The Financial Crisis of 2008 was a result of consumers buying property with loans they COULDN'T afford. (Subprime mortgages, ARMs, etc)

ATL to MEM
but he's right:dahell:

He is wrong. The primary function of private banks is not to act as a form of the government, ensuring people have access to affordable loans. A bank is a private business like any other, they dont have to make their services affordable. And how do you define affordable? Should someone with less income and worse credit than me get a better rate on a loan?

The problem is that the US has put itself in a position where it treats private entities as defacto parts of the government. These companies are treated like part of the government when they start getting fukked up, but when times are good they go back to being private entities.

And the bank CEO's got a bonus after we bailed them out. that is so fukking comedy breh. and these free market fakkits still stick up for them. disgusting. I think it's time to recognize that certain areas of human life should not be for profit, healthcare, politics, prisons and banking.

Let me explain something to you because you aren't thinking this through at all, my man. The more emphasis you place on Banks with more control towards our economy, the worse it becomes. We can cite more than enough history for that for CENTURIES. It is a simple equation that ends in ruin for most countries. There is however a exit but it involves people on the street and action taking to "Breaking up concentrated banks that are too volatile for a C-O-U-N-T-R-Y" Repeat that over because it is important. Let that sink in.... let it sink in,you got it? Good,Dead7

When banks are consumed with just making enormous profits, the whole system becomes tainted & undesireable. That is what's happening little by little.

Let me show you something because you probably aren't aware of the Banking System that much judging by your responses. So let's go to Michael Hudson: (His credentials are off the chart) Professor, former Wallstreet Analyst,Historian, multiple degrees, author etc)

I don't support market charlatans. So don't cite any of that here, you will get dragged if you try that, trust me.

Michael Hudson just beautifully ethered you and your Snoop Emoji, have a nice day.

that ether:noah:

I swear the leftist narrative keeps changing

first the banks were discriminating and not giving out enough loans to low income people

then they were giving out too many loans to low income people :jbhmm:
