Besides 9/11, what's a major historical event you lived through that you’ll never forget where you were when it happened?

Really, why? From New York and lived through it but was too young to understand what was going on and to remember it.

You don't remember literally no power in all of the entire city for the entire day? I remember my whole family gathered at my moms crib for the night so that no one was stuck home with nothing. We had to light candles just to see each other. Remember stores staying open for folks even with no lights or power. And this was before smartphones. I remember walking outside and just being completely amazed at what it felt like, just for one night, to see the Bronx with no lights, no electronics, no "noise" besides cars. Just barren. I will never forget that night for sure.

First big event I could remember pretty well was the LA Riots....I was in elementary school back then.
Northridge earthquake in 94 was a pretty big event for me.
Columbine happened right when I was going into high school...never looked at a cac in trench coat the same again.
OJ of course.
I remember Magic retiring vaguely, but do remember the fallout very well.

the riots were insane. it really felt like the world was coming to an end. people openly running around with ill gotten gains. everything seemed like it was on fire. there was a liquor store on central that burned down they never rebuilt on. just a square lot. my grandma made all of us stay with her during the riots just so we were close and threaten my aunt not to bring any of that shyt back home with her

I don’t want to parrot other answers so I’ll say an obscure one. That earthquake that hit the East Coast in like 2011. My older brother and I were chilling at home and after it happened, we both looked at each other like “Was that an earthquake?” :lupe:

This. Everyone I texted didn’t believe me.

And 3/14/2020.

I remembered walking up to a store and it was like we’re closed because of Coronavirus.

It ain’t been the same since I read that note on that door.

Tell me about it.

3/14/2020 was the last time I ate at a sit down restaurant, only for it to shut down less than 2 days later.

I remember the first COVID death back in Sunday, March 1st 2020. That was a bizarre day.
