Wow, copped GCU for 30 last night then went home and pre-ordered a couple of games...the GCU almost paid for itself on that one transaction.

Its a nice promotion if you buy many games, but I hate feeling like I am a part of some large ass database that is aggressively analyzed.
You would only have to buy 3 or 4 games in 2 years for it to pay for itself. I also let family give me the money to buy games for them so I can get the points and they can get the discount too.
Also, if your a my best buy member (free) you also get 1 point for every dollar you spend. and receive 5 dollar gift cards @ 250 pts.
so you could essentially be earning gift cards depending on how much you buy.
edit: it looks like gamers club unlocked actually matches your points on game purchases.
so on one game you coult get ~96 points. and basically get a 5 dollar coupon after you buy your 3rd game.

I haven't check if it's over yet but I'm not sure why anyone would be on the fence about this. $30 for 2 years and you DONT have to buy the games day one, it just has to be brand new to get the discount. People are actually on this board talking about games nonstop and don't buy 3 games in the time span of 2 years? 
I let people use my account to buy games. Points convert to dollars for you and friends get discounts=win/win.
