50 Cent crashed through the gates of hip-hop with his monstrous debut. He's gotta be one of the prime candidates. Plus that G-Unit album furthers his already immense contributions made that year.

OutKast went diamond on this album. Big Boi one half. Andre the other half. I actually think Big Boi deserves a lot of credit for showing he could handle rapping by himself on an album, and went the more traditional hip-hop route of the two MCs. Both albums commercially and critically successful.

Then of course you have the Jordan game 6 shot. The supposed retirement of Jay-Z with arguably his best album to date, The Black Album. I want to reward others but because of how epic this album was. Jay-Z rapped like he won the MVP in his final year and was bowing out on the highest of highs. Some giant songs in his catalogue were released that year as well (99 Problems for starters).

Jay gets my vote.

Andre is like Ye in 08 for me, even though there wasn't much rapping they both had my favorite projects of the year but I'm not going to vote for them

Speakerboxxx/TLB and TBA >>>>>> GRODT

if we talk bout quality JZ, Big Boi and 3 Stacks (yeah songwriting counts too, why you talkin' bout Fiddy's hook game huh?) were above Fiddy

GRODT and Speakerboxxx/TLB crushed all buildings worldwide

Trap Muzik is still FLAMES, good lord TI had that HUNGER

Gotta go with the best rapper and best album of the year...HOV!

Btw can we take time to appreciate the greatest hook of all-time on Moment of Clarity?

50 Cent is also a master of hooks as is DMX.

This song on GRODT...

:birdman:

That song has never been one of my favorite 50 cent songs tbh

What Up Gangsta and 21 Questions though:blessed:

In da Club is an undeniable classic too:wow:

I cant believe the Kendrick shyt either. Dude won based off Section 8.0:mjlol:
Dude was a complete non-factor in 2011 culturally. Just coming out the gate on the freshman XXL cover. Section. 80 sold 5,000 copies as an indy digital release. I bet half the Coli didn't hear the project in '11 or even know who he was most people didn't. Yet, he won MVP. It's not like S80 was head and shoulders above the top tier 2011 releases either.

I personally would have went with Drake or given it to Jay or Kanye. Kendrick was literally a rookie building his draw off mixtapes, blogs, magazines, and Drake/Dr. Dre co-signs.

Kendrick winning 2011 was simply the Coli shytting on Drake. He had the best combination of critical acclaim, commercial success, features, influence/impact, and MVP appeal and he took the crown from Wayne when he dropped his album. The Coli doesn't like Watch The Throne much so I'm not surprised Ye nor Jay won.

I'd vote KRS-One, Kristyles was a classic to me and possibly the album I play the most that year. Could go several ways as still play a number of those albums and songs.
