:dahell: this thread is insulting to hip hop. E40 has like at least five solo albums easily better than anything Missy and that's not even talking about The Click

I'm not getting the "It's not even close" proclamations. Why not concede both were unique and had a good string of hits? Both artist have a unique sound and lyrics, and both artist sound unlike anything we've heard/hear from hip-hop or music in general.

So we shytting on the GOAT Hype Williams now? Supa Dupa Fly was one of the most creative, groundbreaking videos ever.
Captain Save'em was one of the most influential songs ever. Hell, where do you think the term :cape: came from?
:childplease: I'm a hip hop head and I been bumpin e-40 since the 90's
"Hip-Hop Heads" is a generic Up North term for people who don't rock with the music people from up there prefer.....

Yeah people definitely knew who he was. If you watched Rap City and Yo! with any regularity, you probably saw his videos. But I doubt he got much play outside of the west coast. I never knew one person who liked him or bought one of his albums growing up.
You don't think EAST-COAST BIAS didn't have anything to do with that? :usure:

The US is ALOT bigger than VA, MD, NYC, PA, and Mass.....

And many of you on here don't quite seem to grasp this...

Why can't westcoast heads understand that most people don't fukk with or know E40. Truth be told if you like rap and care for diversity in your music you heard of E40 but you probably never bumped him. He has a distinct style that can be best described as an acquired taste. He has never had a song that was big enough to have appeal all over the US for people to actually know who he is. He was only big on the Westcoast and as a result he been able to have a career last this long.
Who are you speaking for? I'm from The South, and 40 has always gotten major play down here.

:ld:

He wasn't ever as big as Missy of course, but for people to say 40 never got play outside of The Westcoast is really strange to me.....:childplease:

Bias? Call it what you will, but if people don't fukk with something they just don't fukk with it. I'm just stating facts. I never called E-40 trash in this thread. I stated a simple fact that I never met one person who liked E-40 growing up.

And you grew up in VA(Missy's homestate) on the Eastcoast. This all comes down to regional bias....
