iverson still ranks higher.

but curry is on pace to pass him up.

majority of the team played the same way. its not that iverson & melo as a duo didnt work. they couldve did more if they put more people around them that filled the voids that they left - which they went on to do the following year. they brought in alot more than just chauncey billups.

thats why the billups trade is one of the most overblown things in basketball history. he was far from the only change to that roster. and on top of that, they benefited from playing in a weaker western conference. really, they only won about 5 more games than the iverson team. and they got easy draws in the 1st & 2nd rounds.

people never talk about the following season, when the west picked back up.

Bro Melo had a down year in 2009 and they still improved. If AI was still there, they would a been a 8th seed again and lost in the first round.

and 8th seed in '08 was like the equivalent of a 4th or 5th seed in '09 in the west.

melo had a down year because the offense was run differently. it was virtually a different team. everybody that returned from the '08 squad had a down year in '09 in comparison. not just carmelo.

:mjlol:

what other changes were made that boosted that win total besides Billups that really moved the needle? That 4 win improvement especially at the 50 games level isn't "small" - they jumped from 11th SRS to 8th in 1 year with basically a player swap. That's crazy. Stop trying to excuse Iverson for not being at the level of some other players.

afflalo, birdman and a couple others were not on that '08 team. billups filled the void of them needing a starting point guard. in '08, they had an old anthony carter.

i dont even know what an SRS is. im not into that analytial stuff. just watch the games b.

AI took 29 shots to score 32 ppg (38% shooting) en route to the Finals, and you don't think Curry could put up 32 points if he had 29 shots a game? :heh:

im not really arguing curry or iverson.

but man, do yall know how hard it is to get a shot up in the nba? especially when youre by far the smallest person on the court, and the sole source of offense for your team? before the rule changes too?

Curry has one of the fastest releases, one of the best handles, and his jumpshot is the most closely guarded in the history of the game - all in the most athletic era. Nobody is stoppin him from getting a shot off - it's as unstoppable as Kareem's sky hook is to block.

its not about athleticism.

alot of the stuff steph does, would not fly in previous eras.

hes a tough comparison. hes one of those guys thats like the greatest chit for his time, but probably wouldnt translate well into other eras. thats why i dont like comparing him to older players at a certain level. i either end up overrating or underrating steph. hes a tough call.

Curry is raw talent. Why couldn't he be dominate back then? Mark Price was able to be an all star for a few year and he was no where as good

TYRONE GA!
Iverson played like 43 minutes a night. Attacked the basket, was undersized. Had crummy teammates , had to work for every basket.

When he had good teammates early in his career he couldn't share the rock :mjpls:

The greatest shooter that's ever lived wouldn't translate well into other eras? :laff:
